I've not met a pitbull, they are illegal in the UK. MY brother had a Staffordshire bull terrier and it was a lovely dog but I would never leave it alone in a room with a small child.

Little rascals had one. Theie nature is to be motherly to the littile ones and to be defensive against those who gets in the way of them. So more or less a guard dog.

i would never go and say pitbulls are bad dogs, or that they can't be cute
but genuinely the play most of them involve in instinctively is scarier then most other dogs (nipping and tagging at limbs as if to take you down), not that they are the only large breed that do this but more commonly so in my experience. If said play isn't kept in check, or they have abusive owner (eitherway owners fault, one is negligence other is malice) then yeah
