On the one hand, yeah. They will appear to be too heavy handed and push people away. Better to have a lukewarm Christian than an atheist.

Also the era. What was considered obscene at one time, today isn't. And vice versa.

Our priest said you will not participate in lay ministry if you aren't dressed for Church according to the Southern custom. That means a collared shirt, pants (not jeans), and a belt.

You won't be a lector, extraordinary minister of communion (which shouldn't exist at all), choir director, etc

As far as laypeople go these are the face of the Church. If I go into a Church and see regular parishioners dressed casual, ok, but if I see an usher looking like shit, then that whole church looks like shit

It was to the girl, and I told her she was dressing immodestly and that her clothes were scampy. If we're going to worship the Lord we need to adhere to Scripture when it says to be modest.

Her father got on to me, and I told him, "Had I known you were her father, I would have told you." And he said, "Well it's my responsibility, not yours!" So, it's whatever. I'll say that I handled it the wrong way, but it something that needs to be said.

Well... if you see something you believe is wrong, take it to a church leader(s). Being a random new guy at a church and rebuking people makes you look like some holier-than-thou jackass.

There were a few things that led up to that. Wayyyyy too many people were dressed immodestly, and it was probably best that I go to the church leaders anyway, but I didn't so oh well.
