"Women are equal! But requiring us to lift as much as men is sexist!"
"But...if they are equal, why does the standard need to be lowered? that implies they are weaker"
"MYSOGYNIST!"

Of course special forces need high standards. Its only for the best.

2018-10-26 02:56:29 UTC

@Beemann , what questions do you have about trans? As far as the definitions, we're trying to figure it out ourselves.

2018-10-26 02:57:05 UTC

The standards should be appropriate for the job and to ensure enough recruits are found to fill the billets.

2018-10-26 02:57:13 UTC

Well no I was just saying if it was defined as a sex designation and not a gender one there wouldn't be any legislative issues

2018-10-26 02:57:33 UTC

Thank you @Grenade123 it's good to know someone understands what I'm saying.

2018-10-26 02:57:57 UTC

I am pretty sure whatever bar you set that you can find women who can meet the same bar unless you set it so high you won't get enough men to fill the billets.

2018-10-26 02:58:00 UTC

@DrYuriMom because its fact.

2018-10-26 02:58:19 UTC

@DrYuriMom Then that would be a great bar to set, and all women who meet it, I am 100% in favor of letting join.

2018-10-26 02:58:45 UTC

what I am against is continually lowering the bar, specifically to make it so more women can join

2018-10-26 02:58:55 UTC

Also, I'll be blunt, even for special forces there are things a woman can do that a man just can't. Namely, infiltrate as a woman and be able to pass inspection as one.

2018-10-26 02:59:17 UTC

because Jasse believes in a large state that likes to send its males to the slaughter so it needs baby factories. I mean, you need to be at war 24/7 to justify oppressing your people

2018-10-26 02:59:45 UTC

and for those specific situations, I 100% support finding women who are qualified for the initial stages of the ops, and then giving them necessary special training that may even be on a different tier than male training, to allow for those unique situations. but those ARE unique situations.

2018-10-26 02:59:51 UTC

My wife and I had our replacement two. :p

2018-10-26 03:00:33 UTC

@Grenade123 if you send your woman to field, what are you even protecting then?

2018-10-26 03:01:00 UTC

your house, family, friends, children you may already have

2018-10-26 03:01:12 UTC

Your country, your ideals, your way of life.

2018-10-26 03:01:21 UTC

@JustTom - Fair enough. Special forces are a different breed. The last thing I would ever want would be for a team to fail and have losses because they weren't composed of the best sons (and daughters) of bitches this country can produce

2018-10-26 03:01:32 UTC

if you don't have a woman at home, why fight at all?

2018-10-26 03:01:40 UTC

@DrYuriMom Damn right. I think we're finally in agreement on that.

2018-10-26 03:03:01 UTC

But there are plenty of jobs in the military women rock at. Pilots. Ship captains. It's cool to see Heinlein finally borne out on those. 😃

2018-10-26 03:03:07 UTC

i mean, if women are the only thing you are protecting, if you don't have a woman you might as well just fuck off. Be nomadic.

2018-10-26 03:03:17 UTC

you'd never own anything, you'd live like a hobo

2018-10-26 03:03:28 UTC

but i mean, what else is there to fight for?

2018-10-26 03:03:39 UTC

A Heinlein fan too? I'm surprised there isn't a mob outside your house already

2018-10-26 03:03:48 UTC

Oh, I've had those

2018-10-26 03:04:01 UTC

Like I said, I'm not welcome at my alma mater anymore

2018-10-26 03:04:09 UTC

"kill the non believer!"

2018-10-26 03:04:16 UTC

I'm not gay enough

2018-10-26 03:04:17 UTC

oh I fully agree women can handle many awesome jobs, and a strong woman would effortlessly kick MY sorry ass. But that's why I believe that the standards should NOT be lowered.

If the standards keep getting lower, it'll get to the point where I could best some of our soldiers... and that's... BAD. I suck.

2018-10-26 03:05:06 UTC

should we allow soldiers out in the field who cannot lift a wounded comrade to safety?

2018-10-26 03:05:13 UTC

or ones who can barely even carry their kit?

2018-10-26 03:05:23 UTC

@Grenade123 , so true.

2018-10-26 03:05:33 UTC

this is toms point

2018-10-26 03:05:54 UTC

Our military is getting shit for this reason tbh

2018-10-26 03:05:54 UTC

It was that which actually got me discharged. Had a heart issue. Was discharged because I could no longer be certain to handle damage control if our ship got hit.

2018-10-26 03:06:11 UTC

Which sucks because JTF2 has to pull from somewhere

2018-10-26 03:06:21 UTC

if the standard is you should be able to carry your kit, your buddy, and his kit, just incase you need to recuse him. then that standard should not be lowed.

2018-10-26 03:06:29 UTC

Agreed

2018-10-26 03:06:33 UTC

Sadness. But stuff like that happens. Although again... Best person for the job. That's crucial to keeping a strong military.

2018-10-26 03:07:27 UTC

Navy believes everyone can be called upon to participate in damage control. Even a medical officer. I can't argue - that attitude won us WII.
