because apartheid was like Cold War US against communism
And a warning to US holiday seekers
“For the third time since only September, the National Security Division, with its US Attorney partners, has brought charges against Chinese intelligence officers" WTF
Guess Pharrell isn't feeling so "Happy" anymore.
Is it not legal to publicly play music without the consent of the artist?
Horseface is back at it again.
Is Comedy Central turning a new leaf?
I mean, we don't have concrete evidence that Trump has called black people niggers, so he's at least behind Johnson.
Pretty sure the Gab crackdown proves an alternate internet is impossible.
Sure Gab can jump from provider to provider but each time they do they have to move to smaller, more vulnerable providers with less infrastructure and experience. Easy pickings for the Jared Holts of the world.
Another problem is that while there are many payment providers, they're all subject to the ToS of two credit card companies.
If Visa or Mastercard wants you to starve, you're fucked.
So Gab moved to Epik as a DNS registrar. Epik has both a Paypal account and uses Mastercard as a payment processor. They'll buckle soon enough.
Epik also uses bitcoin, but in February the US passed regulations forbidding the use of credit cards to purchase cryptocurrency. Bank transfers only. Another hoop to jump through for any business trying to avoid the stranglehold. How many customers would be willing to get a wire transfer to a crypto company to purchase crypto to make a purchase? It's too much hassle and anyone who can take their business elsewhere will.

We need to storm their offices and seize their capital.
Frankly I'm sort of surprised that Cloudflare appears to be standing by Gab. You'd think that after they gave the Daily Stormer the boot they wouldn't have any reason to stand firm against pressure to do the same to Gab.
They are? News to me.
Still, there's always a weak link. This blockchain stuff might be an answer, but I don't think it's enough.
There are other difficulties with blockchain. Not technical difficulties so much as legal difficulties. Most (all?) of the implementations of distributed hosting prevent any sort of content removal, which is obviously going to run afoul of US law in about 2 seconds.
Thats probably an unbiased report of Cloudflare right there.
Pressure campaigns.
On the flip side, it does tell us who hasn't buckled.
Activists are currently spamming the Cloudflare abuse form regarding Gab.
But no one has done a good job defending them.
