I think that’s just the boomer+ generations.

2019-03-05 14:22:07 UTC

Mother in law is at the very end of the boomers and she spends money like she’s still in the Great Depression. She’s much more financially stable than I’ll probably ever be. Finished their mortgage like 20 years ago and all their vehicles were bought without having to finance.

2019-03-05 14:29:28 UTC

in my case it might be that some of the seniors were part of the nomenclature, and had a lavish life, thus their spending habits never changed.

2019-03-05 14:31:38 UTC

my mother in law used to waste her money on pantsuits and shit

2019-03-05 14:32:03 UTC

now afaik my sister in law pays off her Dacia.

2019-03-05 14:32:15 UTC

yes, a fucking Dacia.

2019-03-05 14:32:25 UTC

which she drives like a lunatic.

2019-03-05 14:33:27 UTC

it's a very interesting dynamic there, and my wife constantly want's to punch her in the face, and allegedly she did one or two times.

2019-03-05 14:34:31 UTC

my paternal grandparents on the other hand are very financially stable, and never spend their money on unnecessary shit.

2019-03-05 14:43:25 UTC

Dacia? Must be one of those silly European only vehicles...

2019-03-05 14:46:34 UTC

Ok found a UK website with price listings. Without knowing the context of auto prices in Europe, are they expensive type cars or what?

2019-03-05 16:20:30 UTC

nah, Dacia is some cheap romanian crap

2019-03-05 16:20:37 UTC

a new one is about 20k

2019-03-05 16:21:16 UTC

marketed as a "affordable" vehicle

2019-03-05 16:48:52 UTC

Ah ok. So the reference to the car... She spends lots of money on her appearance then drives a shitty car?

2019-03-05 17:04:47 UTC

used to spend tons on appearance, back when she was in politics

2019-03-05 17:05:17 UTC

although she still is in the party that has a majority in our parliament, she's not as important anymore.

2019-03-05 17:05:53 UTC

an the car... well it's "new" (lots of us drive second hand stuff, mostly imported from Merkelistan), so all that matters.

2019-03-05 17:06:08 UTC

and even 20k is a lot of cash for eastern european people

2019-03-05 17:11:56 UTC

That’s a lot for us too. I paid like $25k for my Honda Civic. Financed it for 5 years.

2019-03-05 17:31:48 UTC

Lol I don't even have a car. A shitty 2k car will do me fine.

2019-03-05 17:32:06 UTC

I have a old MK1 SVT Ford Focus.

2019-03-05 17:32:15 UTC

great ride, when it runs.

2019-03-05 17:35:02 UTC

I never understand ppl who buy cars to show off. like the majority of gopniks who toil away at britbongistan just to buy a beamer.

Wait @Deleted User what's going on?

2019-03-05 18:40:13 UTC

What's article 13?

2019-03-05 18:43:31 UTC

its basically an attempt by the EU to limit the internet. I don't have all the details but it could mean the end of memes as we know them in the EU nations

2019-03-05 18:43:52 UTC

Oh yeah the copyright thing.

2019-03-05 18:44:23 UTC

Allows companies to wage “law-fare” on anything and everything.

2019-03-05 18:45:07 UTC

yep

2019-03-05 18:45:18 UTC

I’m pretty sure Pewdiepie has had to deal with it some. Don’t remember if it’s in effect yet, or if YouTube was just being proactive.

2019-03-05 18:45:49 UTC

youtube is actually agasint it as it'd be a disaster for their site in Europe

2019-03-05 18:50:22 UTC

Yeah it would 🤣

2019-03-05 18:51:24 UTC

Can’t use any kind of “art” unless you have permission. Which includes music and probably paintings on your wall if you do the streaming thing.

2019-03-06 08:20:19 UTC

ah man, the meltdown after the municipal elections here is pretty bad whilst regarding one city in particular, which can be condensed to "crab sticks man bad"

2019-03-06 08:20:55 UTC

because the mayor of my home town is also a CEO of seafood processing firm, which is famous for surimi sticks.

2019-03-06 08:21:37 UTC

The guy is basically Trump, but on a much smaller scale.
