The point of the article is to question *why* wages aren’t increasing, but I think the answer the article gives is pretty honest. If wages increase here in the US, then capital investment will shift to foreign markets and will be outsourced, especially in industries that have a focus on providing cheap service.
That’s the reason why globalism is often very bad for most of everyone except for the consumers of these products (I.e. the upper middle class who work high-end jobs that aren’t at risk of being outsourced).
All I can think of is mcdonalds workers crying for 15/hr when i read that article now
