Chinese animation (simplified Chinese: 中国动画; traditional Chinese: 中國動畫; pinyin: Zhōngguó dònghuà) or Donghua, in a narrow sense, refers to animation made in China.
yea, i am aware
French anime
also Code Lyoko is incredibly
anime-like
but it is influenced by Japanese animation, which is actual *anime*
but it is all cartoons
Nigga don't know bout black cat detective
Uh
Anime is from France my dude
how so
anime is loan word for animation
I would say that avatar and old Teen titans count as anime
they are anime-like, but are not anime
but both anime and them are cartoons
They learned animation techniques from France
they are obviously inspired by it
They learned from disney too
Hence astro goy
アニメ. A Ni Me. A Japanese loanword.
the first anime came about in WWII
it was military propaganda
im not saying it isn't inspired by anything outside of Japan
The Japanese word does not mean cartoons from Japan. It just means cartoons
but I am saying that it is its own distinct thing
implying it isn't is false
It has taken on the meaning of "Japanese cartoon"
just because its etymology is that of a loan word that means animation does not mean that is all it means
words take on more meaning as time goes on
and that is what has happened
And the Japanese use this word to refer to Super Mario Bros Super Show, Black Cat Detective, Calabash Brothers, South Park, Wakfu, etc
Its a genre but only outside japan
yes
All cartoons are "anime"
it is a subgenre of the greater whole of animation
It would be more accurate to just say Japanese cartoons
But that is way longer so anime lol
i've no problem calling them japanese cartoons lol
