i would like to, as much as possible, remove 230 and updating old law already on the books that achieve the same goal if possible.
That's a distraction at the current moment though. What is there to do to promote free speech?
*porn
...which word was to be porn? lol
That's
ah
Right now I think the first step is to create some sort of trade association of content creators. Get a handful of big names to get together and hammer out a broad but simple statement of principles, and then invite others to join. Have a small membership fee which would go into a fund held in trust, to be used for legal activism.
I like that. I think that's a good step.
Maybe also accept donations from people.
thats a pretty good first step
One issue would be mitigating the interpersonal drama. Content creators tend to be kind of emotional folk. They have a certain personality profile that lends itself to catfights.
should we go into other places and start measuring responses to such a plan?
Not sure what places you'd have in mind. You can DM me if you want to keep it quiet.
Also, this is random (don't follow up) but do look into my page on Minds.
well other like minded places that wants free speech
So a certain amount of hierarchical structure would be necessary to keep people from getting in stupid slapfights. E.g., Sargon and Metokur.
This is particularly for you Atkins. I can't DM you for some reason.
I have DMs blocked.
I'm not so convinced hierarchy is important.
I think the more important thing is that it happens.
in the end it causes infighting to not have an authority figure come in and stamp out the problem or mediate
sargon v metokour proves that
I don't mean like a command structure; just some sort of basic organization to keep the loudest and most histrionic from dominating the conversation.
Fair. Though that's why the left doesn't talk much to people like Tim.
Bigger question is- what's your funding infrastructure? Yer gonna get the black spot
High extroversion and low agreeableness seem to be prerequisites for content creators.
Tim being sort of an odd duck here in that he has high agreeableness.
That's another thing. How to pressure payment systems.
Yeah, the trade association would be a bloc.
That I find to be an actual problem
I think the "payment" angle is being used as cover for not doing anything and making excuses. Let's not go there.
There's also time and networks, which as of yet are very cheap.
And from those you can go after money.
We're seeing the bloc tactic informally being used now against Patreon.
It's been used for a while now. Look at Operation Chokepoint and all the financial organizations rallying against the firearms industry.
If an association could have a vote and organize a credible threat to leave a platform as a bloc, that would give bargaining power.
Well I mean the obvious imperfect answer is crypto and physical money transfer when available
Also, Atkins, since I can't DM you, you REALLY should look at my minds page. There's stuff there I'd want to share with you that I wouldn't want to put on an open server.
That's about as unsubtle a hint as I can give.
Ok, you answered your own question Beemann. I've told you why I think crypto is a poor long term solution. But that's not the point here.
I wouldn't consider it a long term solution, but rather a stopgap
