Well for my story the female Protagonist is a Squad Leader fresh out of Officer School

One thing I can recommend when writing women is don't make her gender a focus point. writers that make them that way are limit the characters.

on the left they will often refuse to make the character look weak to keep up the idea. You character's must be PEOPLE first and women second @Hackata48

Whew! Now that you mentioned it, I never really emphasised my character's gender that much

Tends to be a bit No Nonsense though

have her have a strong sense of morality

not so emotional

and she listens to the advice of an older man who is techninally lower rank than her

She is a Lieutenant while the Older man is a Sarge

Don't make her does things just because she's a women.

but what would make her based... HM

probably giving up her career and being a house wife

I got two women in my story I write. One is a spy master working behind the scenes and the other is a scared girl who's to powerful for her own good. and doesn't want to be a hero and is trying to get rid of that power. mix up character types for interesting results

The actor Avery Brooks (Sisko from Star Trek DS9) said it best.

If you write a story about a brown man, he'll wake up and say "What brown man thing will I do today" you need to think of the character as a man first. skin color is trivial in comparison.
Same goes for women.
