It was only reported for ideological reasons. In any real sense, the incident is not news.

Regarding the use of credit cards to buy guns used in massacres, be aware that the more expectation of examination of electronic transactions is regulated, more hurdles for currencies that cannot reliably we traced back to an individual. The term "follow the money" is well known to both journalists and the governments. There is little chance the latter to reduce their ability to follow the money. Our post 9/11 anti-terrorist legislation pretty much mandates tracability.

The story about the child death is relevant since the government is responsible for the safety and well-being of people under their care. When someone, especially a child, dies in custody that necessitates attention and investigation.

We all should have the expectation when in custody that we will not be harmed unless through due process leading to a verdict and punishment that is not cruel or unusual - in other words appropriate for the gravity of the crime committed.

And families are responsible for their children's well being.

If a family's child dies after all reasonable efforts were made to see to their health, is that worthy of reporting on national news?

But the fact a death of a minor occurred while under government custody is certainly worthy of attention

Right now the border debate is a topic of general discussion, stimulated by the acts and words of the President of the United States. The President has deemed it newsworthy from his bully pulpit and the news media fall in line.

In order to try and make him look bad, yes.

No, we the people of the country deemed it news when we decided to make it a major policy issue for national elections.

If we the people deemed in such, then even moreso this is news when a minor dies in custody of border patrol

Because I will applaud when they do their jobs and criticise when they do not. I'm a mother. You can't just discipline and expect correct behavior. You must praise as well.

Especially from those who would try and stand for anything good and noble, like I assume you do.
