the first exercise I did with a classroom of undocumented immigrants was I wrote on the board "Is America great?"

that prompted a huge discussion to show the kids, I want their opinions expressed regardless of my views on them

it worked well

and yes, the wording was intentional

I'm guessing most said not good enough

we discussed how some were scared of Trump and how they think he is unfair

others showed actually liking him

it was surreal

but productive

children learned to not apologize for their beliefs

You opened their minds but also created a divide lol

That's good though

interestingly, the kids work well together

it opened a dialogue that honestly helped them move pass their differences
