I know they need to be cared for
the real problem is knowing when to be firm
Right
and to what lengths you go in being firm
Probably when they resort to the idea that they should die etc
They blame themselves for things but punish themselves too hard without fixing anything
Fix it and stop hurting yourself
But then you say "you matter" etc
actually, its funny, I've started a few programs on campus that has helped them get distracted from their normal everyday teenage angsty shit
Like what
I am working on building a YouTube channel for the kids
showing them ways to make money
be creative
Sounds like you're a natural teacher now
How long have you been doing this
it helps them by focusing on something other than how they're limited outside of school
first year
God damn
second semester
I don't half-ass
You have 30 more years of this legacy
the kids don't know my channel, but I have a YouTube channel already
Careful with that
I won't let them see it, because I do political commentary
Kids are very tech savvy
and it gets a bit graphic
they are
I suggest deleting it
Tbh
nah
the school is aware of it
Oh.
and I keep it restricted
Good then
I'm honest with my administration
the first exercise I did with a classroom of undocumented immigrants was I wrote on the board "Is America great?"
that prompted a huge discussion to show the kids, I want their opinions expressed regardless of my views on them
it worked well
and yes, the wording was intentional
I get it
