Unless you’re a 12 hour shift, or actually doing labor. I can manage as a CAD guy. No way I’d try that as a mechanic or something.

The only reason I'm even thinking about it is I'm in the process of leaving my job

10 hour turn arounds and 3am baking shifts are wearing me out

My brother does a 12 hour swing shift, 3 on 2 off then 2 on 3 off. He’s a maintenance guy for plastic injection molding machines.

They make hangars, tampon covers, and Icebreaker mint containers.

so he's getting that overtime

but sounds like he has plenty of time off

He does go in for extra days fairly often. I think he overtime is only like 10 hours for every 2 weeks.

Instead of counting a 40 hour work week, they count 80 hour bi-weekly.

So unless he goes over that 80 he won’t get overtime.

Every week is different, never 2 days off in a row and almost always 10 hour turn arounds at least once a week

So do you work for a big company or like a small town bakery?

I work for an upscale grocery store

The company itself is absolutely wonderful but the particular location I'm working at is poorly managed to the point people are walking

I'm about to walk myself, the only reason I signed on was because of the company's reputation

It goes against my moral fiber to call out sick but I know I'll hate myself no matter what I do

If I'm legit sick I call out cause I'm paying for the health insurance might as well use it
