Men, I have a conundrum

2018-08-01 20:03:49 UTC

spill da beans

2018-08-01 20:04:03 UTC

It's 40k night but I got work at 3am

2018-08-01 20:05:00 UTC

sounds like a plan

2018-08-01 20:06:09 UTC

I wish I could do both lol

2018-08-01 20:09:25 UTC

5 hour energy or Red Bull’s.

2018-08-01 20:09:43 UTC

Monster, Kickstarts...

2018-08-01 20:10:05 UTC

I already live off those things

2018-08-01 20:10:38 UTC

Unless you’re a 12 hour shift, or actually doing labor. I can manage as a CAD guy. No way I’d try that as a mechanic or something.

2018-08-01 20:11:08 UTC

I'm a baker by trade

2018-08-01 20:11:20 UTC

ah a baker

2018-08-01 20:11:25 UTC

creating them buns

2018-08-01 20:11:32 UTC

I make the dough

2018-08-01 20:11:50 UTC

The only reason I'm even thinking about it is I'm in the process of leaving my job

2018-08-01 20:12:48 UTC

10 hour turn arounds and 3am baking shifts are wearing me out

2018-08-01 20:13:20 UTC

dadgum

2018-08-01 20:14:30 UTC

My brother does a 12 hour swing shift, 3 on 2 off then 2 on 3 off. He’s a maintenance guy for plastic injection molding machines.

2018-08-01 20:15:04 UTC

They make hangars, tampon covers, and Icebreaker mint containers.

2018-08-01 20:15:27 UTC

so he's getting that overtime

2018-08-01 20:15:33 UTC

but sounds like he has plenty of time off

2018-08-01 20:16:15 UTC

He does go in for extra days fairly often. I think he overtime is only like 10 hours for every 2 weeks.

2018-08-01 20:16:52 UTC

Instead of counting a 40 hour work week, they count 80 hour bi-weekly.

2018-08-01 20:17:09 UTC

So unless he goes over that 80 he won’t get overtime.

2018-08-01 20:17:18 UTC

ah I see

2018-08-01 20:17:27 UTC

I would give my left nut for a steady schedule

2018-08-01 20:17:51 UTC

Every week is different, never 2 days off in a row and almost always 10 hour turn arounds at least once a week

2018-08-01 20:18:18 UTC

Ouch. That blows.

2018-08-01 20:18:38 UTC

So do you work for a big company or like a small town bakery?

2018-08-01 20:18:48 UTC

I work for an upscale grocery store

2018-08-01 20:19:10 UTC

The company itself is absolutely wonderful but the particular location I'm working at is poorly managed to the point people are walking

2018-08-01 20:19:28 UTC

I'm about to walk myself, the only reason I signed on was because of the company's reputation

2018-08-01 20:22:38 UTC

Ah ok. So you work in the deli for like Whole Foods or something then?

2018-08-01 20:23:24 UTC

Bread and pastry baker but similar yeah

2018-08-01 20:27:04 UTC

It goes against my moral fiber to call out sick but I know I'll hate myself no matter what I do

2018-08-01 20:34:56 UTC

Yeah I can’t just call out sick either.

2018-08-01 20:35:13 UTC

Now I’ll make a dumb excuse for why I was late lol

2018-08-01 20:35:39 UTC

If I'm legit sick I call out cause I'm paying for the health insurance might as well use it

2018-08-01 20:36:01 UTC

Yeah exactly. Same for me.

2018-08-01 20:37:16 UTC

I can't wait till the fall semester starts, I'm going back to school and dropping to part time

2018-08-01 21:53:38 UTC
2018-08-01 22:18:35 UTC
