@Jul Nekrosai my uncle was killed in the Vietnam War. My great grandfather (in-law) was killed in the Chinese Civil War. One grandfather fought in Vietnam, another in Korea, and may have killed people who I am now related to by marriage. There are better ways to end a cycle of violence than killing innocent people. A quick Google search can find you plenty of Americans, Japanese, and Germans shaking hands, and North and South as well. Stop holding people responsible for what their ancestors did out of necessity rather than hatred, or you'll end up being just as insane as leftists who blame us for slavery 150 years ago.

I'd like to chime in on the military getting weaker over time. For one everyone overestimates how fucking terrible privates are, you are almost worthless. Almost literally just there to make sure the e4s and up can get shit done with less chance of dieing. If you are new chances are your Sgts note pad has served the country more than every private you know.

Second technology overall and actual science has helped shaped how we do thing now. No we dont know how to Ruck for 20 mi a day for a week to make it to an objective. We will almost never do that shit. There is also the hazing that we have eliminated. While some of it wasnt bad it wasnt helping.

Soldiers have stayed the same and at roughly the same level. You can put a WW2, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and me a War on terror all at the same table and see there is really no difference.

I have to disagree. E3 and below, the quality isn't as great. But once they have experience, I'd say we're as good as we ever were

Movies aren't a good measure of reality but in my experience an actor has more discipline than some young soldiers today
