@Augustus what's wrong with your arisaka? those WWII bolt actions are pretty simple, shouldn't be hard for a gunsmith to fix
my arisaka's bore is fucked so i can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. it's beautiful though and still has an intact mum, so still a nice collector item
"Snake, be careful! You hear that in the air? That must be Sky-Man! One of the terrorists' number one pilots!"
"Sky-man? Who is he?"
"His real name was Richard Russel. They call him the Combat Aviation Mercenary. He most infamously flew for Big Boss during the Zanzibar incident. Do you remember, Snake?"
"Yeah, I do... I remember the sound of a jet overhead, but it was forced to avert and abandon its post. Something about electromagnetic interference. However, it pursued the plane I airdropped from for nearly two hours."
"That was Richard Russel, Snake. Did you by any chance see any of his incredible maneuvers?"
"incredible maneuvers?"
"Yes, Snake. Even though he is not a formally trained pilot, he is well known for his Barrel Rolls."
"Barrel Rolls?"
"Yes, Snake. A barrel roll in combat aviation is an aerial maneuver in which a pilot forces his aircraft to complete a full rotation both its longitudinal and lateral axes, making it flow in a helical path while approximately maintaining its original direction! In other words, he is able to effortlessly create a single turn of a spiral while rolling about its longitudinal axis!"
"That is incredible, but you said he was not a trained pilot? How is that possible?"
"Reportedly, he used to work at Horizon Air. However, he grew tired of his job, which began to harm his health and well-being. So, one day - he hijacked a civilian plane! There was no one on board, it was just him! Apparently, his only experience flying was playing video games."
"You telling me he learned to fly from playing video games?"
"Well... it is not too crazy, is it Snake? After all, virtual reality training is all the rage now. Even China and Russia have a rigorous virtual boot camp for their conscripts and newer soldiers. It cuts down on the expenses of shooting real ammunition on a real range too, however it takes some training outside of these VR courses to properly apply them to the battlefield."
"Of course... virtual reality is nothing compared to the real thing."
"Incredible, isn't though - Snake? Did you know there are plans to make virtual reality video games? They would be available in the civilian market in the next decade, allowing people with even meager disposable income to purchase a motion tracking headset and play interactive games!"
"I doubt that... anyways, going back to Sky-Man. What happened after he stole the plane?"
"Oh yes, right. After performing numerous maneuvers in the stolen aircraft, naval jets from numerous air stations in the area, specifically from NAS Whidbey Island - came to intercept him, in case he tried to crash land it in a civilian populace. However, they merely adverted out of the Seatac area and he soon was picked up by a mysterious cargo plane. It was an operation commanded by none other than Big Boss..."
"So FOXHOUND just came by and picked him up? Why would they do that? How did they get away with that?"
"FOXHOUND was looking for exceptionally trained pilots, yet this man made headlines and channel 1 news with little effort at all. More than that, he showed the weakness in airport security and was able to successfully hijack the aircraft without hurting anyone."
"Wait, I remember this story... they said he committed suicide. Death by nose diving into the ground. What's the real story, then?"
"According to what Sniper Wolf told me... Sky-Man actually contacted FOXHOUND first, he had a chance encounter with Big Boss at a civilian terminal in Tacoma a year prior. FOXHOUND were performing a joint Navy-Army exercise, testing an anti-Metal Gear evacuation plan in the Oak Harbor area. But before that, Big Boss and several of FOXHOUND agents, trying not to look too suspicious, flew commercially."
"And that is when he ran into Sky-Man?"
"Sky-Man apparently recognized Big Boss, regardless of his civilian disguise. Big Boss told him that the 'future was in his hands always and not in the hands of powers who think they can pull the puppet strings of people in this world'. Even though Sky-Man never did fly for FOXHOUND... Big Boss hid him away and he worked in secret as a private contractor in Zanzibar."
"That explains why I never heard of him or served with him, while I was under Big Boss' command..."
"After he flew the stolen aircraft into the back of the cargo plane, they dropped it off in an area where it would not hurt anyone. Effectively, faking his death."
"Wait, he flew a plane into another plane?"
"Yes. He was that good."
"I mean, he put a plane in a plane?"
"Oh yes, of course. It was a heavily modified B-52 Air Force bomber. They effectively had built a custom appliance, a small hanger beneath itself - where it could normally otherwise, carry a X-15 Rocket Plane. However, it basically clipped the wings off of Sky-Man's craft when he landed inside it, making all the more sense for them to simply drop it off later."
"So, Sky-Man is flying for these people? And this man who claims to be Big Boss?"
"That is right, Snake... you have to be careful. Even with a rocket launcher with AA Heat missiles, you may find it difficult to hit him due to his Barrel Roll maneuver! Meaning you may have to avert his course with them and attack him another way."
"Great... not only do I have that mad man in the Hind flying around expertly, but I have a modern, living-legend Ace working against me as well."
"Be careful, Snake... the man in that Hind was trained to fly by none other than Sky-Man. You are likely going up against the most talented pilots in the world, right now."
"I just can't believe he'd willing do all of this. What provoked him to follow Big Boss into this life of war and death?"
"Sky-Man believed himself a victim of a conspiracy, snake. Wage-slavery."
"Wage-slavery?"
"Yes, Snake. Wage-slavery is an analogy used to best describe the relationship between the economic situation in the U.S and its work force. Basically, Sky-Man believed that some strange higher power habitually was keeping working class people down. After all, capitalism abhors idleness and yet, everyone works toward the next vacation. The next good day. Sky-Man had none of that, he had lost his ambitions and realized that he was a victim of this so-called, wage-slavery. He believed that certain people were rich only because they kept the average working man on the ground until he was put into the ground. Sky-Man full heartedly believes that everyone has full potential to become whoever they want to be. Pilots, astronauts, physicians and physicists. However, people are restricted into linear paths by their own upbringing and the working culture in America, that applauds overworking and living your life as a worker. He even had a name, for who he assumed were the people who intentionally enslaved young men into unhappy lives of nearly indentured, vicious circles of bi-monthly wage dependence."
"Who were they? In his mind? Who did he think they were?"
"I couldn't get much out of my sources... but it is said, that he believed these people were called The Patriots."
I want to know if people would read this.
In a world that America has surrendered to cultural marxism/critical theory, several short stories take place.
- An artist longs for an objective standard of beauty to return, so the beautiful will not be passed over for ugly splatters on a canvas.
- A reporter is feeling guilt over misinforming the public, and wishes to do something about it.
- A writer has had problems keeping up with the new meanings of words.
- A doctor is struggling to both do his job and not be seen as an awful person.
- A muslim man wanting reform, and having to go into hiding.
- The voting age has been lowered, causing a teenager to struggle with who to vote for.
- A man being found out as a closet conservative at his job.
- An actor deciding that the abuse of children must end, and doing something about it.
- A philosopher wanting to return to our current culture.
There will be other stories that show the horrors of that society by showing it in a positive light, as if it was a utopia.

@Idea Ghost Marketing is the hardest part, but if you are able to really connect with the reader without preaching, odds are it'll be worth reading
@TheKekscernist Thanks, and I have found two ways to get it published, but I don’t think I can do that until I at least legally become an adult. I guess what I am meaning is that don’t expect it to come out for awhile, if at all with how it may be seen by the media and booksellers.
Guys
after months of trying looks like I finally did it
