Canada no longer has a distinct Army, Navy, and Air Force, neutered by the government once again

In fact I think everyone even goes to the same basic training

8 weeks of basic together, then 6 weeks in your own section's training 14 weeks total

Saw a documentary about it once and served with a guy who was CF infantry but that was years ago

its to allow troops to be easily transferred if needed

At ome time we had among the top 3 navies

But it was mostly british loaner ships

now we have 34 combats ships

We have a mechanism for that as well. All Marines, Navy special warfare, AF special warfare and security forces, can skip army basic training. Everyone else goes to a common six week course.

in Canada everyone has to do the 8 week army + 6 week navy/airforce

all fresh recruits go to 11 weeks
