Maybe, I just think we need to get rid of the federal government overrides.
We have an issue here in BC where NDP and Liberals trade off dominance because voting for Cons/Greens/etc means that "the other side wins"
So we'll get liberals making a dumb decision or 10 and then because nobody wants the NDP they'll get in the next 2 times as well. Once you hit fucks given spillover then the NDP gets a turn
It's a really bad setup
I think we'd get some DSA, and even some NSM members with that system though.
ranked voting.
Maybe. But is the honest solution to just shove that shit under the rug and pretend it isn't there?
Sunlight is the best disinfectant
No the solution is to not give the government enough power that it matters.
Oh I'd want that as well
It's too late for that though.
But to the extend that abusable power is necessarily within the purview of government, I'd like one that is a little more representative at the very least
I am of the perception that gerrymandering would be a thing of the past if the US joined 10 electoral districts into 1 large district with ten seats.
I'll worry about more representative government when we get our 4th and 5th amendment rights back.
I'm not seeing how you keep regional representation intact, @4AM_critter 🐉
I'm okay with that too.
Once you give the federal government power it's almost impossible to have them release it.
I assume a region that would elect 1 seat would still manage to elect that seat. but they get help from other regions.
I just think about California, where all those red areas are outnumbered by like 1 city
that 1 city would no longer be able to rule over those red areas, since i think 4Am is suggesting more seats than before
Right and how do you determine who gets those seats? Bulk votes, no?
If we went by vote by county Trump's landslide would have been insane
Senators shouldn't be voted on.
That'd be nice.
uhhhh
why?
They're not representatives of the people.
They're representatives of the state.
They're supposed to be reps of the states interests not the states.
Kind of like the EU.
By county CA went Trump, by county CT went Trump, by county NY went Trump
i don't know about that
What are the interests of the state?
they are not strictly representatives of the state, they are representatives of the people in that state, but balanced against population.
where as the house is a balance against the minority
The interests of the states vs the interests of the people as a whole.
Pick a state then
Michigan.
Denial? Thats a state right?
lol
