Service guarantees citizenship is what I want.
i'm an anarchist but heinlein's vision sure as hell is appealing
Didn't like 79% of American approve of the SotU speech?
I only saw a brief bit live last night, the part when he said the U.S. would never accept socialism and everyone stood and clapped and Bernie looked so grumpy
i listened to the whole thing while playing vidya, so i didn't see the reactions, but it was alright, as far as sotus go
I felt like his ego leaked into it a little much
He did a lot of the whole self-congratulating and then stepping back a moment to let everyone clap about how awesome he is
but that's pretty much expected, otherwise it wouldn't be djt
yeah tbh
I mean not to say he isn't right most of the time
but it's not very humbling lol
Heinlein's vision of citizenship strikes me as the most faithful to civnat.
I was wrong, it wasn't 79% it was 76
lmao
every now and then you get the little bits of hope that Trump might win 2020
Personally he could talk about V-J's the whole time, and tweet about ding dongs... what comes out his mouth just like pelosi and schumer is all worthless trash , its the actions and things that has been done to preserve the republic, better the citizens life, and uphold some symblance of values that matter more to me.
Most civnats pay all sorts of lip service to ideological purity tests for citizenship. They never get around to saying how they'd implement them.
Yeah, I can see that, funny you mention that because I think Heinlein's vision imo most closely aligns with minarchy than anything else
not sure why our immigration is so hard to fix... hell you can do what china does.... you can live here but you will not be a citizen. lol
It's basically a watchman state without universal suffrage
Heinlein's distinction between civilian and citizen is enough on its own to make Heinlein a more consistent civnat than most people who claim the label.
The effect on the 2020 election is not gonna be huge, consider these rsponses

The problem is the availability of public service to non-citizens @Tenma , if you kill public service and safety nets, immigration wouldn't be an issue at all

I am a disabled vet, I live off my disability check.. I went into HHS and asked for help with my dental they said i make too much, I was like what??? they were like you make 60$ too much for us to help. The whole place was filled with south of the border immigrants with 1-3 kids. I asked the lady so you will help these people who are not even citizens, give them more for each kid they bring with them. House them, Pay them, give them access to free food through WIC/EBT, and not require them to work, put them into school, refer them to the unemployment office who then put them through college courses for a trade.. pay them while they go to school....and you can not even assist me with my dental as a disabled veteran???
Is that a true story or something you found
It rings true to me.
its true ... my story
This giveaway of our wealth to illegal aliens isn't politically sustainable.
oh damn
yeah true
ive mentioned before how my entire school's janitorial staff doesn't speak english
I live in Texas so it's probably more of an obvious thing than other places in the country
public or private school?
independent district
run by the town i live in, not the state
so kind of the middle lol
lol
