yep

2019-02-08 16:02:10 UTC

the whole green movement has been too tied to marxist idealogy for awhile, it would be nice to see greens that werent

2019-02-08 16:05:42 UTC

unless the sane democrats throw the far left from their party, it's not likely...

2019-02-08 16:18:11 UTC

It's depressing because I feel like if I came into politics a decade or two earlier I would have supported Democrats more than Republicans, but their adoption of the far left and doubling down on far left policies after the election of Trump just makes them look repulsive

2019-02-08 16:19:14 UTC

The election of Trump was a statement from the major populace that we do not like the far left's bullshit.
Their response, instead of rethinking their approach and trying to appeal to everyone this time around
was to just double the fuck down
and look how that's going for them

2019-02-08 16:19:16 UTC

The median Dem voter is already far-left according to some polls.

2019-02-08 16:19:37 UTC

i'd attribute most of that to uneducated tribalism

2019-02-08 16:20:04 UTC

"i saw an ad saying democrats support socialized healthcare and that sounds nice and i vote democrat so i guess i support that, whatever it is"

2019-02-08 16:20:27 UTC

you see that on both sides

2019-02-08 17:24:04 UTC

@Pendell People often say that you see these things on both sides, but there seems to be a lot more evidence of it on the left. Turn on the news and you see thousands of protesters who can't give a coherent answer about what they're protesting about. Then you check out one of the (less frequent) right wing protests and it's about something specific and everyone knows why they're there. For example compare the women's march to the march for life. One is an ambiguous mess, and the other is a clear and well defined cause

2019-02-08 17:24:46 UTC

The lefts current crazyness has overtaken the rights old crazyness

2019-02-08 17:24:46 UTC

idk, have you ever gone on a facebook group for any southern town?
half of it is christian conservatives acting like SJW's

2019-02-08 17:25:12 UTC

That's not to say the rights is gone, it's just overshadowed

2019-02-08 17:25:29 UTC

I don't use facebook

2019-02-08 17:25:43 UTC

Either we become a communist state or a militant theocracy

2019-02-08 17:26:27 UTC

when people talk about the "rights" old craziness, they're basically just talking about evangelical christians, which is just one religious sect out of many groups on the right

2019-02-08 17:26:37 UTC

right after the gillette ad came out i saw a shit ton of conservatives on my town's facebook group going way overboard, some of them saying that women are destined to stay below men and that their attempts to end manhood it literally one of the signs of the apocalypse

2019-02-08 17:26:44 UTC

yeah, it's always religious nuts

2019-02-08 17:27:03 UTC

The backlash against feminism is real.

2019-02-08 17:27:49 UTC

yeah like
i can see where their rage is stemming from
but they launch it off into the total opposite, attempting to fight sexism with sexism

2019-02-08 17:27:54 UTC

There's a big difference between people protesting for no reason, and people believing in the prophecies of a religion

2019-02-08 17:28:04 UTC

idk man

2019-02-08 17:28:16 UTC

you could say communism and far leftism is a religion

2019-02-08 17:28:22 UTC

to these people

2019-02-08 17:28:55 UTC

You're getting the whole thing messed up comparing apples to oranges.

2019-02-08 17:29:07 UTC

A person's beliefs vs another persons actions

2019-02-08 17:30:55 UTC

its very fascistic to be critical of someone's personal beliefs if that belief manifests itself only in their speech. who cares what someone believes, so long as they're not hurting you or anyone else?

2019-02-08 17:31:45 UTC

how is it fascistic to be critical of someone's beliefs just because they dont take action on them

2019-02-08 17:32:00 UTC

that means i cant criticize any of the twitter communists uwu

2019-02-08 17:32:58 UTC

because the expectation is that in an ideal world, people will think what you want them to think. that's your basis for how you measure progress. and I think that in an ideal world, people will refrain from actions that hurt other people

2019-02-08 17:33:24 UTC

thats reasonable to only want to curtail the harm

2019-02-08 17:33:27 UTC

i never said that was my basis for how i measure progress

2019-02-08 17:33:29 UTC

i agree with you

2019-02-08 17:34:01 UTC

well the way you spoke about it, gives that impression. because you're saying left and right are similar problems

2019-02-08 17:34:01 UTC

your assuming things about me just because im criticizing evangelical nuts on facebook

2019-02-08 17:34:38 UTC

far left and far right have similar beliefs
they have different roots and may result in different actions, but on a basic level youll find they agree on a lot of things

2019-02-08 17:34:58 UTC

give an example

2019-02-08 17:35:02 UTC

of what they agree on

2019-02-08 17:35:52 UTC

they believe sexism is virtuous and right

2019-02-08 17:36:28 UTC

So it's fascistic to want to debate someone on their beliefs? So making everyone stay silent and not speak out against an idea until it has already oppressed you is fine.

2019-02-08 17:36:45 UTC

i think you're oversimplifying the definition of sexism
