It's funny how he thinks that he comes of as a reasonable person in the middle and that he has to convince that he's on the left. Dude, outside of the left, no-one thought you were on the center.
"Threats and harassment!" Yeah, Sargon, Thunderf00t, TJ Kirk totally harassed and threatened Sarkeesian. It's not like Sarkeesian is just playing the cry bully and demanding actual penalties to people who disagree with her (stated, not necessary genuine) opinions.
I like how Joel's argues against any TF's critique against Sarkeesian by "this critique would be valid if the games were supposed to represent reality but they don't" (while ignoring that fact for every feminist critique Sarkeesian levels at the same games. Joel's key method of arguing is hypocrisy and turning things upside down. Like when he reviewed Red Pill recently (when it's way past being a hot topic, much like Sarkeesian is by this point) it all went through a weird feminist filter which managed to turn male draft into female oppression (via "women aren't assumed capable of combat").
Kevin Logan on the other hand relies on character assassination - and almost alone on that. And Kristi Winters relies on frame games, i.e setting the win conditions properly so burden of proof is externalized. Also gishgallop and demanding sources for even the most common sense assertions. The SJW come in so many forms ranging from blinded by ideology to virtue signal warriors (lobsters in a basket) to masterminds on the drawing table. It's interesting to categorize where each SJW fall into: conscript (for what they believe is good cause), mercenary (for personal benefit) or warlord (for their preferred social order). And how each of them intermingle despite having fundamentally different reasons and goals for doing what they do, much like there's nothing in common with actual trolls and real nazis... and how you can actually see SJWs alongside with real nazis to fight against the center (but only the mercenary types, as they don't actually believe what they profess).
Back to Joel, and his typically Jewy and slimy video. Basically any argument against Sarkeesian's critique is invalid because games are not real world. If a female NPC character shows dominance, it does not qualify as a strong woman because she was created to say or do that thing and is objectified. Just forget that there are also a thousand male NPCs to be killed, and that since it's not real world so even self-defense should be considered anti-male torture porn. Or but neither he nor Sarkeesian made that latter argument, and noticed that there's lot of anti-male torture porn out there.
And sad thing really is, that these people think they are being reasonable. And that the society is slipping to the right.

...and it just got worse with him saying that Luben Schluben (fictional pro-nazi) game can be called toxic even if it was so over-the-top that it would not convert anyone to nazism because it is morally objectionable, and that was what Sarkeesian was (supposedly) pointing out rather than being Jack Thompson v2.0 and calling toxic games for causing IRL toxicity.
Yet, Joel before said that pointing out that Princess Peach is a princess was supposedly invalid because we were supposed to acknowledge that it's just a game, not real world. So we weren't supposed to pay attention to woman = princess, man = blue-collar worker, that power imbalance. But when Luben Schluben, we cannot just assume it's a game, we need to see what it tells us about how in-game society is organized.
If he was consistent, he should at least be OK with pro-nazi game as long as the player character doesn't get to kill Jews. If nazis killed Jews in the background, and everything in the game was propaganda, that should be OK if it doesn't allow the player to enact a power fantasy in killing Jews. Because it's not real world, it's a game. But why be consistent.
How do these people manage all the doublethink? They can just slip from A to non-A and back again if needed.
