Is there a name for the "This "Problem" isn't the real problem shut up about it"
you mean like when you talk about climate change and people are like "psh, but what about starving children"
Reparations can't solve their problems since it isn't the solution
some people still own the wealth that was the proceeds of slavery
including many africans...
should they then make reparations for selling them into slavery?
that's up to Africa to figure out I guess
Meh
Everything is white people's fault
I don't agree with that at all
I just happen to be in favour of reparations
I mean, sure, I could get a job, make my own money, grow my own food, pay my own bills...
But white people are white
you could set a class of person where you have to demonstrate slavery in your history, which isn't an impossible feat by any means
Therefore, gimme gimme gimme
I really just don't see the point in reparations, Nobody alive today was a slave back then and even then a very small percentage of people owned slaves to begin with
Why the hell do white people still dare to be white? Haven't they learned anything from the past few years?
the idea that all wealth is the result of personal hard work is one of the great lies of our time
you know there are people who don't work at all who are wealthy
there's such a thing as corporate welfare
Yasssss
there are also people who work two jobs and still can't make ends meet
Slay kwueen
And if taxes are going to reparations where's the reparations for people whos taxes are being unfairly used to pay reparations for something they were never involved in
corporate welfare should be abolished
There's so many reasons I give no shits
and so should the patent system
@🥞🥞🥞🥞🥞🥞 would you give a shit for a dollar?
I didn't say taxes should fund reparations, necessarily. ideally you would try to trace the wealth that is rooted in slavery and find a way of recouping it. kind of like lifting the statue of limitations on a certain class of lawsuit
That's like punishing someone for being born
Are you sure you want to do that?
so what would you call being born wealthy? being rewarded for being born?
And does this mean reparations only apply to black slavery in America?
I was under the impression slave owners weren't necessarily rich
What about the blacks that owned slaves?
I don't know the statistics but I believe slave owners were mostly also property owners
Heck, slave owners maybe even leaned to the poorer side
were there middle class slave owners?
Do Egyptians owe jews reparations?
typically - I forget where I pulled the information, but usually by the 4th generation, inheritance no longer plays a major role in wealth as it's mostly spent away and divided amongst family so much that it's a pittance.
