it was a real shenanigan
"It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead,
This moment the dawn of humanity,
The last ride of the day"
good podcast overall, though. the idea of the cast is to get two people in an argument (or sometimes, the host vs one of his haters) and talk it out
it's called Conversations with people who Hate me
it's like... bringing the comment section to an actual verbal discussion
and how doing that magically seems to make everyone less of a reactionary fuckwad
`Imagine My Shock`
lmao
the host's a bit irritating sometimes though
he's a flamboyant *le gay* voice actor and activist
its almost like, when you treat people as people, they react like people!
but he's super good at getting to the meat of each participant's issues
actually, turns out he did a ted talk about what he does
He's also a voice actor in the podcast Welcome to night Vale
he's a bit of an annoying LGBT-leftie "look at my activism go" guy but he's got heart
reminds me of a podcast i recently listened to
the podcast is Science Vs and the topic was immigration
did a decent job of breaking down common complaints of immigration and trying to see if there was data to back them up.
seemed like half of them where "not entirely wrong but not exactly right either" kind of deal, which is kinda to be expected. truth is usually closer to the middle.
most interesting one was that people who do immigrate here, do cost the US more in terms of welfare, but generally their children will end up putting more into the system in terms of taxes and stuff than most Americans
that make sense!
you get raised with the "this is a country we're privleged to be in, work hard motherfucker"
so over time it is a net positive. but thats like an 18 years or so delay
I've never met an immigrant, first or second generation, who wasn't a boss worker
so really, the argument that they are taking more than giving is not wrong in the slightest.
its just that there is a return on investment
which leads to trying to find a sustainable balance
I have
fuckin' leaf
also said that data shows first gen immigrates commit less crime on average (since committing crimes is generally a good way to get deported), however their kids will commit more crimes than them.... but no more than the surround community. aka they are no worse than native borne
NOW, they did point out that there is little to no data breaking down illegal and legal immigrates. so, there is some problem with that data
that ted talk was pretty good
krusty krab is unfair
thats hate speech
not a picket fence
id protest with this rather than bikelocks and flashbangs
excuse the shitpost but seriously im going mad just hearing about these protests because #wrongpresident
I don't follow the protests anymore because I just assume everyone has gone nuts
