a person with a high IQ might become a doctor. this is not because a doctor learns a thing and then it stays the same forever. jobs that stay static in their requirements are usually reserved for low IQ people

2018-07-13 12:22:30 UTC

so even though a doctor with high IQ can 'doctor' pretty well, it also likely means he could learn any other task much quicker then a lower IQ individual

2018-07-13 12:23:01 UTC

the issue is, that he needs to apply himself first

2018-07-13 12:23:07 UTC

yeah people who tend to think iq doesent mean very much in my experince dont actually know much about iq but insted have heard a lot of progressive propaganda being spread in academia

2018-07-13 12:23:36 UTC

which is another reason why you never see any general geniuses

2018-07-13 12:24:05 UTC

its very likely our doctor could have been a great scientist/engineer/you name it too

2018-07-13 12:24:10 UTC

what about genius generals?

2018-07-13 12:24:35 UTC

but there just almost issnt enough time in the day to keep up with 1 discipline, let alone several

2018-07-13 12:24:50 UTC

combat success is associated with IQ too

2018-07-13 12:25:15 UTC

i think its still illegal to let anyone enter the US army with a IQ of less then 80

2018-07-13 12:25:32 UTC

except the marines

2018-07-13 12:25:42 UTC

"What do you call a marine with an IQ of 70? General."

2018-07-13 12:25:55 UTC

jk jk

2018-07-13 12:25:57 UTC

i very much doubt sub 80 people can become marines

2018-07-13 12:26:05 UTC

its a joke

2018-07-13 12:26:06 UTC

nut that they are not allowed to try

2018-07-13 12:26:11 UTC

just that they wont succeed 😛

2018-07-13 12:26:16 UTC

the armed forces meme on each other, hard.

2018-07-13 12:26:31 UTC

hmm could be, not my scene

2018-07-13 12:26:51 UTC

so the basic joke is that marines are dumb and brutish.

2018-07-13 12:27:13 UTC

that flyboys are arrogant and cocky

2018-07-13 12:27:37 UTC

that Navy types don't do much of anything outside of go to foreign ports and supporting the local sex industry

2018-07-13 12:27:40 UTC

there are a couple of exceptions to the general nature of IQ. they are very rare and far between. these people are called idiot savants

2018-07-13 12:27:56 UTC

most of the time they are the result of some form of brain damage

2018-07-13 12:28:04 UTC

sometimes birth defects

2018-07-13 12:28:20 UTC

and they are VERY succcessful in a very tiny tiny field

2018-07-13 12:28:33 UTC

like for example a person that can tell you the day of the week for any date you give him

2018-07-13 12:28:35 UTC

BUT

2018-07-13 12:28:47 UTC

he wont be able to perform simple addition subtraction maths

2018-07-13 12:29:16 UTC

even though both of those tasks, for cognitive 'normals' involve the same process

2018-07-13 12:30:03 UTC

now lets go a little bit more controversial

2018-07-13 12:30:06 UTC

twin studies

2018-07-13 12:30:12 UTC

you take genetic twins

2018-07-13 12:30:18 UTC

they are adopted

2018-07-13 12:30:32 UTC

one goes to a upperclass household, the other to a middle class household for example

2018-07-13 12:30:45 UTC

then measure their IQ when they are adults

2018-07-13 12:31:09 UTC

they have the same genes (read: nature) but different environments (read: nurture)

2018-07-13 12:31:58 UTC

the higher class people tended to have higher IQs, but class only accounts for 20-50% of the difference , depending on the studies

2018-07-13 12:32:34 UTC

so yes, taking a baby and dropping it in the desert will effect its IQ, to use Tims analogy

2018-07-13 12:33:21 UTC

but taking that same baby and putting it in a rich family will increase its IQ, but depending on its genetic background

2018-07-13 12:33:53 UTC

aka if you have less genes that result is less smarts, even putting you in a rich household will not make you just as smart as the other people in the same kind of households
