a person with a high IQ might become a doctor. this is not because a doctor learns a thing and then it stays the same forever. jobs that stay static in their requirements are usually reserved for low IQ people

so even though a doctor with high IQ can 'doctor' pretty well, it also likely means he could learn any other task much quicker then a lower IQ individual

the issue is, that he needs to apply himself first

yeah people who tend to think iq doesent mean very much in my experince dont actually know much about iq but insted have heard a lot of progressive propaganda being spread in academia

which is another reason why you never see any general geniuses

its very likely our doctor could have been a great scientist/engineer/you name it too

there are a couple of exceptions to the general nature of IQ. they are very rare and far between. these people are called idiot savants

most of the time they are the result of some form of brain damage

sometimes birth defects

and they are VERY succcessful in a very tiny tiny field

like for example a person that can tell you the day of the week for any date you give him

BUT

he wont be able to perform simple addition subtraction maths

even though both of those tasks, for cognitive 'normals' involve the same process

now lets go a little bit more controversial

twin studies

you take genetic twins

they are adopted

one goes to a upperclass household, the other to a middle class household for example

then measure their IQ when they are adults

they have the same genes (read: nature) but different environments (read: nurture)

the higher class people tended to have higher IQs, but class only accounts for 20-50% of the difference , depending on the studies

so yes, taking a baby and dropping it in the desert will effect its IQ, to use Tims analogy

but taking that same baby and putting it in a rich family will increase its IQ, but depending on its genetic background

aka if you have less genes that result is less smarts, even putting you in a rich household will not make you just as smart as the other people in the same kind of households
