I don't think comparing RTS and FPS games to a third person action adventure game really accomplishes much

Brood War still gets competitive play

It absolutely is. Less so than 5-10 years ago, but I think that's just because now people can be nostalgic for newer games

CoD 1 is actually pretty great

Overrated doesn't mean bad. But plenty of people say that it IS the best game of all time and have done so for a long time
