But I don't think they'll get trounced. It'll be close.

2018-08-11 12:13:40 UTC

I've got a feeling the Republicans will get a few more senate seats

2018-08-11 12:13:45 UTC

The house will be interesting

2018-08-11 12:14:42 UTC

Yeah the Senate isn't going anywhere so the democrat plan of removing Trump from office is completely cuckoo bananas. They can impeach but not remove. So it's utterly pointless.

2018-08-11 12:14:57 UTC

And that's all they have. They have no other plan or policy.

2018-08-11 12:15:24 UTC

Best plan they have besides failing to remove Trump is declare everything free.

2018-08-11 12:16:13 UTC

And yet they have ~50% of the electorate. Boggles the mind.

2018-08-11 12:17:04 UTC

There is definitely room for left-wing economic policies, but the democrats are just being silly.

2018-08-11 12:18:09 UTC

Automation is going to be incredibly disruptive to traditional free market economics and is going to cause significant wealth disparity but instead of trying to grapple with that they just say "everything is free now".

2018-08-11 12:18:31 UTC

Free healthcare, free university, free housing, free food, free phone, free car, free whatever.

2018-08-11 12:20:48 UTC

Automation and globalization are going to cause some real dystopian shit in the next decade and the republicans are not able to mentally engage with it due to ideological blindness. It's an opportunity to rebrand themselves that democrats are fucking up.

2018-08-11 12:21:35 UTC

FREE 💰

2018-08-11 12:22:17 UTC

The traditional republican reflex of "the free market will fix it" is going to lead to increasing numbers of Americans being priced out of homes and food.

2018-08-11 12:23:52 UTC

And you're going to see more and more wealth being concentrated in the hands of tech firm owners and investors, and those with the mental acuity to add value in technology sectors.

2018-08-11 12:24:50 UTC

I don't think that's the kind of society anyone really wants, but there aren't any politicians even thinking about it let alone talking about it.

2018-08-11 12:36:35 UTC

because such ideas are radical, and they're scared of stepping out of the status quo

2018-08-11 12:37:25 UTC

why do you think so many reps who were anti trump fel in line?

They were scared and were like "ooh he's weird, we're not like that"

Then they saw it WORKED and people love it, and now they're "ooh yes, we side with Trump, he's our guy see?"

2018-08-11 12:37:47 UTC

afaik only McCaine is still against Trump, and he's got a brain tumor

2018-08-11 12:38:01 UTC

Isn't Paul Ryan also anti Trump still?

2018-08-11 12:38:40 UTC

**I AM THE SENATE**

2018-08-11 12:38:46 UTC

I don't think so? Paul Ryan was trumps buddy initially?

Trump supporters hate him.

2018-08-11 12:39:23 UTC

Preventing society destroying levels of wealth disparity is the kind of problem you want to get ahead of, because if you're merely reacting to it after it has already happened then by definition you're fighting against entrenched wealthy powerful tech firms.

2018-08-11 12:40:03 UTC

step 1 of humanity,

It is better to be right after the problem,
Than be right BEFORE the problem

2018-08-11 12:41:02 UTC

I want the migrant crisis solved because being right after the problem will have far greater consequences.

2018-08-11 12:41:10 UTC

yes

2018-08-11 12:41:24 UTC

but our glorious leaders don't

2018-08-11 12:42:05 UTC

Migrant crisis is part of the larger problem. How are illiterate migrants with no skills or capital going to be able to contribute to an economy where all the low-skilled jobs are being eliminated due to automation?

2018-08-11 12:42:22 UTC

They probably won't

2018-08-11 12:42:29 UTC

They're going to be competing with citizens for the dwindling number of low-skilled jobs remaining that require human touch.

2018-08-11 12:42:30 UTC

That's not the goal of the crisis though.

2018-08-11 12:42:42 UTC

They aren't being brought in for economic reasons.

2018-08-11 12:42:44 UTC

It's a race-to-the-bottom in terms of wages.

2018-08-11 12:43:00 UTC

It's for "moral" reasons.

2018-08-11 12:43:06 UTC

Look at it from this angle:

A leader who has a stable economy, and pre-emptively defeated Islam terrorists,

"Nice, but you wasted tax money on something that MIGHT have happened... what else did you do?"

A leader who rebuilt an economy and defeated terrorists who bombed stuff

"Thank you for saving our economy and saving our lives, you're a hero"

2018-08-11 12:44:21 UTC

also they're not brought in for moral reasons, they're brought in for votes

IF the overwhelming public was "Fuck those people" and was vocal about it,

You'd have a country that blocks its borders, thats why Hungary and Poland do it

2018-08-11 12:45:16 UTC

While stupid sobbing female university students in Sweden may justify uncontrolled migration for "moral" reasons, Merkel and her Eurocrats are justifying it as "they'll pay for our retirement".

2018-08-11 12:45:26 UTC

Which is nonsense, and everyone knows it's nonsense.

2018-08-11 12:45:38 UTC

I was watching a video about how ungrateful people aren't happy and how people who are ungrateful see themselves as victims. Basically the TDS faction in a nutshell. They don't see how much good Trump has done and how many future issues are being defused preemptively.

2018-08-11 12:45:48 UTC

oh its true...

It will be an "early retirement" though 😉
