neither is your "Oh I dont see it happening, so its magic" argument
Dozens of pundits are not starving due to patreon, therefore ???
Elon Musk, notorious optimist, claims that one-way travel to Mars will cost $250,000 in current dollars by 2050.
Being a little more realistic I think we can say that merely traveling to another planet will still be outside the means of a low-skilled worker for the remainder of my lifetime at least. Let alone being able to afford the cost of living there without a skill.
thats only cuz theres no race to get there ASAP
So Joe Truckdriver ain't going to get a ticket to Mars to solve his financial problems.
This is a nonsense argument.
Nor is he going to get Patreon support.
You realise it took less than 20 years to get to the moon right? Cuz we finally wanted to
I think I'm a little better positioned than Joe Truckdriver to survive in the coming economy, but if I had to live off Patreon money I think I'd starve.
How many people live on the moon.
This is silly.
Thats so not the point
Yes it is
Zero money is generated on the moon.
yes and thats not the point
You are being silly.
the point was that you can easily upgrade space-flight if you just get a competitive market for it
Why not talk about replicators and warp drives \
now who's being silly
We could all just warp to a new planet.
"Oh i don't see it happening, therefore it must be impossibruuu"
Wanna go pray to the sky-gods for rain too?
There could be a competitive market for stargates.
We could have Apple stargates that would be white glossly plastic, and Google stargates that could be all matte black.
so your argument is, You saw Star Trek on tv, therefore space flight is impossible
No I'm very bullish on SpaceX. But it's not in any way shape or form a solution to problems in the labor market coming in the next ten years.
This is happening right now.
Space colonization is not going to happen in our lifetimes.
You're the one using SpaceX as the template
The next generation might see small bases. The generation after that might see self-sustaining.
so 20 years?
But we have to deal with the real world now, and waving your hands and saying SPACE is not real.
50 years is self-sustaining, got it
I'm going to stop talking to you now because it's clear you're not a serious person.
You're the one who can't even get his arguments straight
you do know a generation is ~25 years right?
so by your own words, you have self-sustaining bases in 50 years
thats atleast MY lifetime, maybe not for you
but hey, keep on believing in TV
