yea being in the information age may give the founding of a new party a head start
i think the IDW would be a valuable asset
You will inevitably get problems, especially with schooling bills
I wonder if Tim is aware that there are actually people planning to potentially start a new political party on his Discord server
For example, North Carolina almost passed a bill funding their schools for a decade
@Dusty Morgan Funding issues for 1. You'd have to raise taxes or something for the roads.
Also, "Get better textbooks that do not have a bias slant" will be immdiately decried as Fascisim.
Then democrats added an amendement that applied gun control across the state to the bill
And you'd be skewered alive by the existing institutions.
lol i mean i have unironically been writing up a platform sooooooo
What, I want history and nothing but history. I don't want any political bias in history class.
So for me trying to make things better for my citizens would get me skewered alive?
Following this they had a sit in at the NC capitol with juice boxes
you will never satisfy everyone
just know that going in
It's impossible to satisfy everyone
The goal is to find a solid base and stick to them while appealing to moderates
I want to give them choices, the tools, and the ability to better thanselves aka equal opportunity.
Dont disallow the press and act like everything you say will end up on the nightly news
END THE TEXTBOOK MONOPLY
sorry
Dont say equal opportunity
Youll go down a bad road very quickly
How?
It's better to appeal to the political center for 2 reasons, as I see things:
1. You get more support if you appeal to the political center
2. Your policies are more balanced if you appeal to the political center
There may be other positives, but I haven't thought of them
*Sighs.* Equal opportunity allows for people the chance to pull themselves out of poverty and earn the life they want to live.
Why is that a bad thing?
Because it will be twisted into something its not
It's also the law as written for now under the 14th amendment.
because of the current dialogue around it i assume
Equality on the other hand is forcing people to be equal.
Dont use taglines, say what you will do
you could argue instead to enforce the 14th
Equal opportunity starts at the family level, before you ever enter school
@Dusty Morgan They now use the word "equity" for that.
Some people have families that can afford books and encourage them to read. Other families dont care/cant afford those books.
Obviously those kids who are encouraged to read will have an unfair advantage over other students
There in, that is why there is the "CHANCE."
Hence there is no equality of opportunity in that situation
They get a chance... when other countries they don't get a chance.
@Dusty Morgan I think a better way to start into the textbooks would be to run on a policy of reducing textbook costs.
