for years, the "Left" had the moral highground, with the media hiding the lefts bad stuff, and pointing at the right as demons

now with Trump, that entire world-view has scattered

the right no longer feels alone, the centrist-right realises theres more thinking like them

the left feels utterly scared and disoriented, because they thought they were the super-majority

so they lash out in fear

and its going to get worse until they reach that peak point, where their own side is gonna be like "Yeah, this is just going too far, i'm out"
