For investigations this large and consequential there's a real conflict of interest. Maybe instead of a one man special council it should be a triumvirate.
With a team of investigators all sharing the prestige and having to come to unanimity on how they should pursue the investigation there's less likelihood of a never-ending fishing expedition for personal glory.
Disgusting. A bond between man and waifu goes far deeper than that and to imply it could be any other way is an insult to those who have made that commitment.
