@Citizen Z continuing the discussion from before, flat earthers as a community have been around for many years now. It consists of mostly older adults with enough money even to buy themselves a 15,000$ gyroscope. If commercial airline websites are not to be trusted, and distances are not to be trusted either, and neither can we trust the flat earth map, isn't the burden of proof on you FEers to prove that the distances are wrong?

There should be plenty of people and resources to accurately measure the distance from australia to chile, and the distance from boston to japan.

While I'm here, I have another question about the sun and the flat earth. You see, we know that the sun takes different paths across our sky depending on the time of year it is, right? On the flat earth model, that movement is explained by the sun taking a closer/further 'orbit' around the center of the earth. This neatly explains its movement throughout the year...
However, there is an odd variable that I noticed with this. Let me show some current pictures of this model here so we can be on the same page.

There are actually two odd things. Firstly, the sun has to change speed throughout the course of the year due to the greater distance it has to travel, does it not? Are there any observations that prove this to be true?

If it only changed elevation, the sun would not take different paths across the sky depending on the seasons.

If the sun changed elevation as well as the distance from the center of the earth, these variations should be clearly observable by anyone who looks.

In which case, there should be data on this, gathered by flat earthers, no?

But...that isn't data. You'd have to record that thinking and upload it to an archive somewhere where it is accessible, then it would be data.

We do know what the sun is, but you don't believe what science says. I would say, you are the one who doesn't know what it is.

I haven't gathered any data because I have read the data I need online. For us who believe in the globe earth, we don't believe everyone is out to lie about the whole thing, so we trust information that has been proven by scientists and their research. This is irrelevant...

Let me move on to the second odd thing.

If the sun moves in a tighter circle around the north pole...shouldn't the area that the sun lights up on the other side of the earth change as well?

if you can't make a map that explains your propositions, don't you think it's reasonable to assume that the flat earth is not a viable model to represent reality, until further observation is made?

If it doesn't line up with observation, how does GPS lead you to your destination?

GPS doesn't work perfectly, however it works quite accurately. I checked it up online and found many posts by people who claim they have used GPS and it worked with minimal error in Antarctica. I suppose these people must be...fake?

Sorry, I can't afford plane tickets to Antarctica to show you myself...however, you can't prove it yourself either, so you have no place in asking me to prove something of which I know other people have claimed to observe. I have evidence in the form of people who actually were there and talked about it online. Can I 100% prove that those are legitimate claims? not exactly, however it's still more proof than you have, which is none.

Also. GPS will not work if you are in an area that doesn't allow for it to communicate with satellites, which you claim is a hoax. That means that GPS devices are programmed to 'lose' signal when they detect that they are in such an area. Shouldn't it be possible to reverse engineer them or look through the source code of one of these devices to find that?

I see. GPS works in Antarctica, that's what I read, however it doesn't always work accurately there...mainly because there aren't many satellites above it.

And also because of interference.

GPSs must be a hoax, no? They get you were you need to go, but they aren't telling you everything.

That is a link to an open source GPS app.

That means the code is available to everyone who wants to have a look. You can give that to a programmer and they can tell you everything about it.

Because you should be able to look at the code that runs the device and find out that it's a hoax.

GPS goes out of range if you are deep underground.

If GPS does not use signals from satellites, this has to be intentionally coded into the GPS...for it to fail.

but when i started using more clear and precise observation-based proofs, all they say now is that they don't know

and that's a win in my book. they admit the truth - they don't know, and they simply question the globe earth model because they don't understand it...however to them its some sort of global conspiracy

That's not what I'm referring to. GPSs fail to work when they are deep underground. We are told that this is because they can no longer communicate with satellites in space. If this is a lie, then that means the GPS is shutting itself down for an alternative reason. Devices are programmed with readable code. I linked an open source application above, a GPS, which has all of its code available to the public. It works like a normal GPS, and will fail if you take it out of range of a satellite. If GPSs using satellites is a hoax, it must be programmed into the GPS that it should fail if it is deep underground...and this code can be found by any programmer who looks at it.

Regardless of what he believes, he admits that GPS works sometimes and doesn't other times, and also that it is partially a hoax. If one simply looks at the programming behind GPS applications and research how exactly they work, they *will* find discrepancies if they are infact a hoax.
