Yep. The famous double-slit experiment.

By the way, most millionaires didn't inherit their wealth.

2019-04-05 16:39:46 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

You mean both being on the horizon? Well, refraction certainly plays a role. Plus, the entire earth is below you, so even if you're not quite directly between the sun and moon, if you go a few hundred miles closer to that line, you will be.

"Recently, PNC Wealth Management conducted a survey of people with more than $500,000 free to invest as they like, a fair definition of โ€œwealthy,โ€ and possibly โ€œmillionaireโ€ once you begin including home equity and other assets. Only 6% of those surveyed earned their money from inheritance alone. 69% earned their wealth mostly by trading time and effort for money, or by 'working.'" @SeekingTruth No no no, airplanes use anti-gravity, not the Bernoulli Principle.

2019-04-05 16:49:53 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

Joking about the people who don't think jet fuel is real @oink

2019-04-05 16:51:58 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

"Exploitation of the working class." You mean entrepreneurship?

2019-04-05 16:53:20 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

Not exploitation. It specifically said *working*

2019-04-05 16:53:29 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

"Trading time and effort for money"

2019-04-05 21:07:46 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

There's ALWAYS atmospheric refraction, and that wasn't even the only thing I mentioned.

2019-04-06 02:08:30 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

I get so confused by SeekingTruth vs Seeker of Truth.

2019-04-06 02:16:32 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

Nah, it's just a zoomed-in version of mine.

2019-04-06 02:18:29 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

They cancel each other out?

Which are NOT mirror images of each other.

The southern sky is a lot more beautiful than the northern, in my opinion.

2019-04-06 02:29:23 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

Too bad I haven't seen it in person.

2019-04-06 02:30:21 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

"Only a fool claims they know what (the sun) is." " The close sun makes a full circle every 24 hours. "

2019-04-06 02:30:33 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

a bit of a contradiction.

2019-04-06 02:31:29 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

Right, because it's not like the southern sky has its own constellations.

2019-04-06 02:32:37 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

Two celestial poles, lovely.

2019-04-06 02:34:50 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

They apparently have; we just don't have photography from the stone ages.

How does God = Bible? Is Christianity the only religion?

2019-04-06 03:52:03 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Hinduism is just odd.

2019-04-06 03:52:22 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

2019-04-06 14:20:56 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

@Bodhisattva I saw you in Seeking Truth.

2019-04-06 14:22:37 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

Do explain.

2019-04-06 14:23:45 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

That's an explanation of why it disappears, not why it doesn't shrink.

2019-04-06 14:25:17 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

The sun appearing larger is an illusion.

2019-04-06 14:27:00 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

Somebody did an experiment where they took two circles of identical size and placed one 40 feet above the observer, the other 40 feet ahead on the horizon. The observers insisted the circle on the horizon was 2, 3, even 4 times larger than the one overhead.

2019-04-06 14:29:57 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

I also find it interesting how the sun doesn't appear to slow down as it sets.

2019-04-06 14:32:21 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

Huh.

2019-04-06 14:32:40 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

So the sun is on a curved path, right?

2019-04-06 14:34:13 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

Why doesn't the equator see the sun curve at equinoxes? The rest of the world does not see the sun go in a straight path through the sky, but down there, you can.

2019-04-06 14:36:11 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

The field causes the sun to appear in a totally different location than it really is?

2019-04-06 15:19:46 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Woah, care to be specific?

2019-04-06 15:22:51 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

No, nuclear fusion generates energy.

2019-04-06 15:24:54 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

Woah...

2019-04-06 15:25:00 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

Dinosaurs are MAMMALS?

2019-04-06 15:30:35 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

@Human Sheeple When did "they" admit to spraying viruses?

2019-04-06 15:32:07 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

That was Imperial Japan generations ago.

2019-04-06 15:32:24 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

What about the U.S.A. spraying its own civilians?

2019-04-06 15:33:42 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Yep, the world will end any 100 years now.

2019-04-06 15:33:58 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Why?

2019-04-06 15:34:12 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

I thought 2028 was the year to talk about.

2019-04-06 15:35:01 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

@Green Knight Do you even think conservation of momentum is real?

2019-04-06 15:35:38 UTC [The Ice Wall #lounge]

He's not a bot

2019-04-06 15:37:01 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

It's basically like throwing a bowling ball. You're not pushing off the air, you're pushing off the ball and nothing else.

2019-04-06 15:40:44 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

If rocket thrusters push off of air, it begs the question: What does the air push off of? You only need two components to get thrust, in this case the rocket and the gas from the thrusters. However, if the gas itself needs to push off of something else, then that something must do the same, and so on and so on. Infinite regression.

2019-04-06 20:21:32 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

No.

2019-04-06 20:21:48 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

The mass increases, not the density.

2019-04-06 20:22:03 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

The total buoyant force increases, though.

2019-04-06 20:22:41 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

By adding a second balloon, you've doubled both the mass and the volume, so they cancel each other out.

2019-04-06 20:24:46 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Which it obviously does if the helium balloons are identical.

2019-04-06 20:26:37 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Archimdedes principle

2019-04-06 20:26:47 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

F = pVg

2019-04-06 20:26:54 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

p = density

2019-04-06 20:26:59 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

V = volume

2019-04-06 20:27:04 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

g = gravity

2019-04-06 20:27:46 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

The thing that facilitates the phenomenon you mentioned

2019-04-06 20:28:26 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Downwards force, as pointed out in the diagram you posted

2019-04-06 20:29:00 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

See that downwards arrow?

2019-04-06 20:29:24 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Yes.

2019-04-06 20:29:51 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

So you admit to a downwards force and a normal force?

2019-04-06 20:30:14 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

NET acceleration

2019-04-06 20:30:45 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

If that upwards arrow overpowers the downwards, you will float.

2019-04-06 20:31:18 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

You can set pVg equal to your weight to see how many balloons you need to fly.

2019-04-06 20:32:15 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

You think this is made up?

2019-04-06 20:32:33 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

You do realise that this equation is verified, right?

2019-04-06 20:32:55 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

g is just downwards acceleration.

2019-04-06 20:33:11 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

You can measure that by dropping stuff from a set height.

2019-04-06 20:34:25 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

That's disregarding air resistance, buoyancy, etc.

2019-04-06 20:35:17 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

It's just a belief that stuff accelerates at 9.8 in a vacuum?

2019-04-06 20:35:30 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

And yes, nobody denies that buoyancy exists.

2019-04-06 20:35:47 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Same as sitting on a chair can bring your acceleration to 0.

2019-04-06 20:37:14 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Ah yes, I've seen this before.

2019-04-06 20:37:29 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

There's this thing called elastic energy.

2019-04-06 20:39:07 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

so before I address the feather, tell me, what provides the downwards force to being with?

2019-04-06 20:40:21 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Yes.

2019-04-06 20:41:40 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Yes, a change in net force will change net acceleration.

2019-04-06 20:42:06 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

No

2019-04-06 20:42:39 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Cause: providing upwards force to overcome downwards.

2019-04-06 20:42:54 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

But yes, lets continue

2019-04-06 20:43:41 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Try helium in a vacuum.

2019-04-06 20:44:28 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Actually, force IS the cause of acceleration.

2019-04-06 20:45:16 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

What acceleration?

2019-04-06 20:46:08 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Yeah, waves have energy and they can transfer that.

2019-04-06 20:46:37 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

It is.

2019-04-06 20:47:17 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

The LIGHT has 0 mass, not the object being pushed.

2019-04-06 20:48:20 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

I haven't been proven wrong, but we might as well move on.

2019-04-06 20:48:47 UTC [The Ice Wall #civil-debate]

Yes
