take a ball, release it from your grip. The law of inertia states that it must stay in place for gravity not to exist, but it doesnt. It falls towards the ground.
If you would like to state that this is due to density, take the same ball, and drop it in a vacuum. The ball will display the same exact result.

The downward force that effects the ball is a phenomena named gravity.
