You clearly have no clue how they actually did it
@Happygrandad alright so
@Happygrandad can you prove the delays in the light were caused by gravational waves due to the curvature of spacetime.
And can you prove that components of the stress-energy-momentum tensor cause said distortion of spacetime.
The *pipe* were stretched by gravational waves? ๐
You realize the accuracy this inferometer measured to was one thousandth of a proton?
So explain to me how these gravational waves which shifted the light on an amount related to one thousandth of a proton could possibly stretch the distance of the pipe.
๐
Do you understand how ridiculous your statement is?
What you're basically doing is taking an observation and connecting it to an already flawed theory.
Correlation=/=causation
Are you still insisting that the pipe stretched?
That's not what I said bud.
I said you're literal misconceptions of GR led you to make atrociously false statements.
Do you even know how GR defines gravity?
No
I don't believe pseudoscience
Gravity is unproven and contradicts other fields of proven physics
@Happygrandad gravity *is* spacetime?
Jeez
GR states that gravity is the distortion of spacetime produced by a nonzero value of the stress-energy-momentum tensor.
No it doesn't.
๐คฆ
Components of the stress-energy-momentum tensor distort spacetime, the bending of spacetime is perceived as gravity.
Do you even know what a tensor is?
They're not "cords in space"
How do you blindly believe something you don't even understand?
Gravity as defined by GR is both unproven and contradictive
๐ค
Lmao, like what?
You don't understand gravity.
Pretty fundamental.
GR means general relativity.
The most modern theory of gravity.
And also incorrect.
Oh sure
"Physics today is broken let's just hope a new one comes"
It's been a hundred years.
๐ค
@der fuhrer's face you know astronomy
Can you explain the elongated orbits of objects in the Kuipier belt?
Kuiper*
๐ค ๐ค
Alright uh
You claim to know about neutron stars
So tell me
Why don't they collapse?
Pfft
Neutron degeneracy pressure.
Which is described by the pauli exclusion principle
The only way a neutron star would collapse into strange matter is if if exceeded the Tolman-Volkoff limit.
Yes
Physics l
Are you an undergrad or HS?
No
@AstralSentient are those arguments serious
@Bannebie you're able to defend gravity?
Pfft, let's see
Gravity is unproven and self-contradicting
You can't defend something rooted in nonsense
Can you give me one concrete proof of gravity?
Of mass attracting mass
No, because there is none
Gravity is unproven
You claim that mass attracts mass
It's your burden to prove that
Appeal to authority fallacy doesn't work here
Mass-momentum-stress tensor? @Bannebie
That's not it's name.
It's the stress-energy tensor
Also referred to as the stress-energy-momentum tensor.
And no, they're not effected by gravity.
@Bannebie do you even know the field equations
A nonzero value of the stress-energy tensor results in a certain curvature of spacetime shown by the metric tensor.
Salutations to nathan
But, gravity is still non-renormalizable as an approach via perturbation theory fails.
Therefore gravity as described by GR is inadequate.
Naw these aren't Nathan's arguments
We usually don't talk about QFT or QM in relation to my gravity dispute
Why converse on accepted physics?
"But, gravity is still non-renormalizable as an approach via perturbation theory fails."
Is basically established fact ^
If curved spacetime fails then yes gravity does not exist
Are you not a physicist?
I was under the impression that you were.
So I'm assuming you've got a bachelor's right?
Oh, sorry to hear.
@Etzie gravitons not being observed is not the only reason we don't have a quantised model
Then I suppose you wouldn't reach that level of QFT.
The metric tensor cannot be quantised meaning the einstein-hilbert field equations can't be quantised. And any attempt at peturbative theory coupled with gravity fails and results in a non-renormalizable situation.
๐ค
Your conclusion was derived from what exactly?
@the21cat are you trying to talk about geodesics
Then you don't know what gravity is
You still don't know what gravity is
You just criticized others who claim it to be a force when you yourself also does not understand it
Little hypocritical, don't you think?
If it's not a force then why do objects fall?
Lmfao
