I think the two party system we have in the US is cancer/divisive. People have to jump on board with a lot of nonsense positions on issues based on the one that matters most to them.

It’s a nuance vs coalition between parties to get stuff done. But I think it’s part of why we are so polarized. I’m economic conservative and socially moderate

If overturning roe v wade meant never winning another election, I would suggest not to do it. Lest you give power to the left on a more permanent basis. Because the majority of people aren’t in favor of making abortions illegal. But this is the issue we allow to drive party affiliation

Yeah I think if the libertarians and one or two more had some money and some air time people could be more precise in showing what’s important to them even if some of these wind up mostly voting together strategically.

The issue is the people supporting the president are usually more important than president themselves (and that’s usually the party). Not including Trump

The way things are so polarized into black and white needs to get fixed. So it feels like one country and multiple opinions are tolerated

US cable is mostly a duopoly. I would say Time Warner cable (AT&T) and Comcast cable are the biggest. Between them they own many other providers too (ATT Uverse, Directv, Roku)

I have to look into COX communications Charter and a few other regional players to see if they are still independently owned

but they all pump the same narrative

So one big impact of this. Regardless of whether people watch CNN MSNBC or the others they will always be in every channel package whether you want it or not. The market mechanism doesn’t exist because the cable company owns the network
