I'm pretty sure Maxine Waters is the Necromancer from Diablo III controlling hordes of NPCs
I'm trying to formulate a thought around that milk story and I...I just can't...
Gross AND Racist. It's an 2-for in offputting
All of my colleagues believe all of this is a hot bowl of stupid. And my boss is an Indian woman
Is there any way to get something to Tim? Because this is nuts.
I'm seeing this more and more that LearnToCode is code language for death threats
Prager is -ok- if you do your own cross referencing
I disagree with you a bit. Everyone who does evil is evil because evil means intent. People can do bad things for good reasons, but Evil is Evil
I mean to say that "evil things" != horrible things
Based on pure observation from watching my kids and my nieces and nephews, I agree with the idea that it's about 70% nature and about 30% nurture. You're born with a certain set of software that governs how you'll deal with incoming stimulus. The nature part is how that software is fine tuned
Now obviously, that can change depending on the magnitude of the nature and it can completely override the software but I think for a majority of cases it holds
again, more of a general observation but you can see, event at 1 year old, how kids will deal with environmental stimulus
I think the ratio could be different for different people. I'm thinking on average is a 60/40 or 70/30 split
having worked in psycho-social oncology, there is SOOOO much guess work going on in psychology today
that's why I added stimulus of a certain magnitude
I think once you can make certain acceptances, you can actually use it to your advantage
I know I am the way I am and most likely, that isn't going to change barring some radical event. So instead, I try and focus on analyzing why I behave the way I do and how I react and adjust my environment accordingly
It really helped me deal with crippling insomnia
oh, I hate the sins of my father and I hate more that I started down that path myself without realizing it.
this is going to sound really dumb, but for me, attending Church really helped. I'm REALLY not saying it's for everyone, but making myself beholden to a group greater than myself, even voluntarily, has helped me deal on a day to day
just structure, responsibility, support, etc
But only as much as they can handle; maybe a tad more for growth. Otherwise you risk breaking them
Reminds me of Hogfather: You have to start out learning to believe the little lies...so you can believe the big ones
Religion from a philosophical, societal and traditional standpoint can actually be rather unifying and centering for a lot of people. The problem is when people take it to either a dogmatic end or worse commit atrocities in the name of said Religion
I was an Atheist/Agnostic up until about a year ago
he's into Cosmology (not the hairdresser stuff)
well, it's the same thing. They're dogmatic about it
there's a term that I liked. It was Ignostic I think it was.
Basically it's this: Can the existence of God be tested for positively or negatively? No. Then the question is irrelevant move on
I had this exact conversation with a group recently. The removal of religion in such a haphazard manner has left a philosophical hole in our society
but we didn't do anything to replace it with anything good
so people fill it with whatever nonsense they can glom onto
not really. When you force change at a pace faster than society can naturally accept without making an effort to mitigate what you just did you wind up with this kind of thing
Like societies tend to get more progressive as they age, but in the last twenty or so years, it's accelerated to the point that we're making progress faster than society at large can absorb
like running down a steep hill at full speed
at a certain point you're going to lose it and eat shit. Yes you're going fast and moving forward, but you also risk face planting it
I have morals, but I agree with you @.Not Sean . I try to steer my arguments toward the logical vs the moral
@Der Kommissar really? damn, that's messed up
Ugh...I was almost kicked out of school after Columbine
Same. Nothing like being a 3.83 student with an excellent record and community service and then being hauled multiple times into the office with a Sheriff and the snap on his gun undone because I wore a trench coat
The back half of my senior year was hell because of Columbine
I would have gone with steel slats, but that's just me <_<
is it actually brick or a veneer of some sort?
came here in the 80s. Listening to her talk about kids here wanting communism is hilarious. If you ever want to to see an old lady curse in like 2 or 3 different languages...
I haven't had a chance to follow the case since he announced it. Any hope?
