My mother, who has been here for over four decades, saw that I was conservative and immediately and without any forethought meant that it was synonymous with Republicanโ€”she couldn't even conceptualize the idea of being conservative and NOT being Republican.

2019-06-15 22:18:30 UTC [The Right Cafe #serious]

So whatever slight lean you might have instantly gets you swept up in the inferno of what the party that leans that direction believes.

*Oh, you lean left?* (pulls out card with talking points) *So you believe in abortion, feminism, gay rights, pro-union, you hate Christians and you want to open the borders, like the Democrat party, right?*

2019-06-15 22:20:13 UTC [The Right Cafe #serious]

Yeah, and nobody even sees the flatness of the political "spectrum" in the mainstream US. It's more like a political string, where you are either dialed to on extreme -X or another +X. There is no Y axis at all, just normie "conservative" points and normie progressive ones.

2019-06-16 00:30:21 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Political compass used to do that but the new one sucks and is broken.

2019-06-16 00:30:27 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

I do those for my server but I make them by hand

2019-06-16 00:32:10 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

With some work you can make pretty good looking charts.

2019-06-16 00:32:18 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Colored dots refer to the role colors

2019-06-16 00:52:36 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

It's a flawed and heavily biased test

2019-06-16 00:53:19 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

If you're trying to get some arbitrary dot on a square and you're answering untruthfully to do it then there's no point in doing one at all.

2019-06-16 23:20:28 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

It depends on what your goals are as a society. If you're wanting a larger structure to help enforce laws and keep general peace without much else, a smaller government works faster and more efficiently. If you want to imperialize and/or deal with bureaucratic issues then a larger government will have more resources and power.

2019-06-16 23:20:53 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

One isn't necessarily "better" than the other.

2019-06-16 23:22:20 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

I prefer living in areas with a smaller government. I consider myself a confederalist really. I think that (for the kind of society and state that I want to be a part of) smaller government is always better because it is much easier to petition it to change and for it to understand the needs and desires of the people.

2019-06-16 23:23:08 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

Consider how difficult it is, as a private citizen, to petition for change in the US government. It's nearly impossible because you're basically screaming at a mountain to move.

2019-06-16 23:23:59 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

Yeah, and they can't get their word out either

2019-06-16 23:25:11 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

@jojojojojojojojo What point are you trying to make?

2019-06-16 23:25:37 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

Hmm

2019-06-16 23:26:10 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

It is only contradictory when the socialism is not brought about voluntarily, and in (checks history) 100% of cases it is never fully voluntary.

2019-06-16 23:26:19 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

Socialism without voluntarism is tyranny every time.

2019-06-16 23:26:24 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

So, it can't be libertarian.

2019-06-16 23:27:15 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

I think that socialist societies can only really work (and not be morally gray) in very small groups where everyone can be in contact with each other and the consent of the proletariat can be achieved 100%.

2019-06-16 23:28:18 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

Tyrannical socialists steal your capital.
Tyrannical capitalists steal your labor.

2019-06-16 23:28:20 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

2019-06-16 23:28:51 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

2019-06-16 23:29:38 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

I only know of "Onanism", i.e. masturbation

2019-06-16 23:29:57 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

OK, what is it?

@Deleted User I use the term "old white dudes" disparagingly IRL to detract my libtard friends from knowing my true edge

2019-06-16 23:34:46 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

Well the problem is all of the intelligent people around me are lefties and all the right wingers around me are sub-90 IQ tards

2019-06-16 23:34:49 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

That's what you get for living in the American midwest

2019-06-16 23:35:21 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

I prefer intelligent and dissident company to stupid circlejerking

2019-06-16 23:36:17 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

@jojojojojojojojo Yeah but IQ is correlated with religiosity, too, so square that circle.

2019-06-16 23:36:47 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

Openness isn't about your propensity to change stances, it's about your willingness to entertain ideas.

2019-06-16 23:38:46 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

I would say people who doggedly refuse to listen to any argument that doesn't correlate with their views shows lower intelligence, on average

2019-06-16 23:39:06 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

It makes sense that openness is positively correlated with intelligence

2019-06-16 23:39:41 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

What about anarchofascism

2019-06-16 23:40:30 UTC [The Right Cafe #qotd]

Just the same, highly open people (who also have weak convictions) are quick to be convinced of bad ideas and things that are bad for them and society.

I would say if this retardation was impeding on other conversations it should get moved

2019-06-17 04:10:20 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Why don't you guys argue over things that have more physical evidence and validity, like Odin or Vishnu?

2019-06-17 04:10:41 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Yes yes

2019-06-17 04:11:38 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

I'm not a pagan I'm a gaytheist

2019-06-17 04:12:10 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

I wrote a lengthy essay once about why God is evil but nobody read it

2019-06-17 04:15:48 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Yeah because animals never develop traits which don't benefit evolution mkay

2019-06-17 04:16:53 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

The fact that humans have been able to form and prosper as we have means that our traits are progenic

2019-06-17 04:17:25 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

"Humans are the most prosperous species in the world, it must be because of our traits which are supposedly negative to evolution"

2019-06-17 04:17:56 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

"All other animals"

2019-06-17 04:18:06 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Flamingos, wolves, whales

2019-06-17 04:18:18 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

That's just off the top of my head

2019-06-17 04:19:15 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Also you attributing self-sacrifice to pride sounds like Christian post-facto apologia

2019-06-17 04:32:43 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Wait you're trying to claim that Greek mythos isn't real when you don't read ancient Greek? @โŸluminance

2019-06-17 04:34:14 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Most Americans I know use NKJV, NAS or one of the International versions.

2019-06-17 04:34:30 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Back when I was a Christian I used an old copy of the NAS

2019-06-17 04:34:53 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

NAS is supposedly a more "literal" translation

2019-06-17 04:35:10 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Obviously without the ability to consult the original text I can't validate that claim

2019-06-17 04:37:41 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

The cringey Atheism 2.0 shit is what initially got me into doubting my Christian values but the thing that ultimately led me to becoming an atheist was borne of my own internal reflections on faith and morality.

2019-06-17 04:38:14 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

I would say that a good 90% of (young) atheists are more of the FACTS AND LOGIC type

2019-06-17 04:39:24 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Who are you asking, @Notso?

2019-06-17 04:39:59 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Well I'm American, I guess I can only speak for myself and any atheists I have had direct conversations with, of which the vast majority are also American.

2019-06-17 04:40:27 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Sure

2019-06-17 04:41:01 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

@โŸluminance So If something exists it necessitates that specifically the Abrahamic God created it?

2019-06-17 04:41:09 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

The universe, specifically.

2019-06-17 04:41:25 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

That's a massive assumption on your part, in my opinion

2019-06-17 04:42:28 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

@Notso I would say it's a lot of that and a lot of Boomer religion: "I go to church every Sunday dressed in overalls and a shitty Wal-Mart tee-shirt and I think Jesus is fuckin' cool"

2019-06-17 04:43:15 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

The Bible belt is very white but it also paradoxically is rather low in average IQ.

2019-06-17 04:43:20 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

I've lived in it my whole life

2019-06-17 04:43:30 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

I would say the average intelligence here is somewhere around 95

2019-06-17 04:44:02 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

>endless void
citation?

2019-06-17 04:44:08 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

We have no idea what came before the Big Bang.

2019-06-17 04:44:42 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

That's you creating a gap where it needn't be then shoehorning your god into it.

2019-06-17 04:44:54 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Is it really?

2019-06-17 04:44:59 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

What does "nothing" mean?

2019-06-17 04:45:16 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

There is no consensus on the subject.

2019-06-17 04:46:07 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Some believe that it was formed from the echoes of a larger Big Crunch from a previous iteration of the universe. Some believe that it was formed from the collision of other multiverses.

2019-06-17 04:46:42 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

Night Phil

2019-06-17 04:47:18 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

The problem with this retarded argument is literally anything could feasibly fit the role of this "universal creator"

2019-06-17 04:47:37 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

And again, this plays on the assumption of the universe being causally created by a single event

2019-06-17 04:47:57 UTC [The Right Cafe #chat]

We have *no true idea* what created the universe, what caused the bang, what came before it.
