If you're saying people can be convinced to be self serving in pursuit of evil, saying its impossible in pursuit of a moral system is disingenuous. A good system is possible, it arguably existed, it just only lasts as long as people defend it with violence.

The difference is that people assume other will fight for a moral cause, while being self-serving. Systems like communism are more willing to put a gun to your head, because its just another human violation on top of the pile.
