There's actually a Gamers vs. Furry war on Tik Tok right now.

@ASadStingray why are you posting pics of mundanematt?

2018-12-26 06:22:44 UTC [Scale brigade #general]

is it "appropriating" for a cis female to post a review on a chest binder while wearing a MAGA hat?

2018-12-26 06:24:14 UTC [Scale brigade #general]

@TBORIOT I'm thinking of ordering a chest binder and reviewing it. But it's from a website that markets almost exclusively to trans people.

2018-12-26 06:28:00 UTC [Scale brigade #general]

@TBORIOT just to mess around with fashion. I'm just trying to sort out if it's worth getting yeeted for or if I should save my shitpost points for better stunts.

perhaps. Specifics aren't avilable yet.

Question... If Senegal is still dealing in Francs, does that mean france being on the euro hurts Senegal?

Like, did switching to the Euro then have the trickle-down effect of hurting the former colonies?

. . . Now that I look into it... A lot of Africa is on the franc.

It's called the CFA franc.

I don't do it professionally, but as a side hobby I like to read about what's going on in Africa. We know it's a sub continent full of problems, but what's weird is the news / most main stream media never examines what's going on down there unless it directly relates to a story about war or violence.

@Nordhand That says a lot about Germans and their confidence in the euro.

Guys, there's a pic of that child drag queen and a naked man on Twitter right now

2019-01-11 17:45:24 UTC [Scale brigade #general]

I'm trying to sort out if it's real or somehow fake. If anyone knows, I'd like to know.

Guys, does anyone know here if the pic on twitter of the child dragqueen standing next to a naked man is either real or fake?

Yeah

There is a photo (it looks like a photoshoot) of Desmond standing next to a naked dragqueen. Or at least it appears that way. I'm trying to confirm if it's real-real because this story has gottern enough attention that someone could fake it or somehow aquire a pic out of context.

because it looks like it's part of a shoot, I have no idea if there is some kind of context attached. It's just on his Instagram and twitter. I'm not saying the context would make it "alright" but in a case like this it is important not to miss something that might give you more information about why or how this ended up happening.

correction, not on Desmond's insta, it's on the writer of a recent article; https://www.instagram.com/jf_turton/ (newest post on there)

Jonathan Frederick Turton, works with huffpost and vice, along with a lot of other media companies. Again, I don't know if there is more context that should be taken into consideration with the photo but on the surface it makes me concerned for the child.

Woman attacks customers at a 7/11 with an axe, blames taking drugs, booze and transisoning. It makes me wonder; how much research has gone into taking illegal drugs with hormones?

2019-01-18 03:19:48 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

MtF. I ask this question only because blaming sustaince abuse is common with arrested for a violent crime, but she's saying drugs + alchohol + transitioning which makes me wonder if there's some kind of chemical reaction in the body that has yet gone undocumented.

2019-01-18 03:20:30 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

It's like how they found out that female Viagra pill could knock you out cold if combined with any booze.

yet studying the affects could ultimately help trans people.

Footage previously dismissed for being "selectively edited" confirmed in court to not be; https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/court-affirms-media-was-wrong-those-videos-of-planned-parenthood-dealing-in-baby-parts-werent-deceptively-edited
This story, the abortion issue aside, is a good example of evidence being dismissed by the press and then later in court found to be legitimate enough to use as evidence.

2019-01-18 18:00:46 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Apparently, the issue of abortion aside, Planned Parenthood did screw up because you are never suppose to be able to profit from harvesting this kind of tissue for scientific research.

Maybe this subject doesn't fit here, but I'm an American who's been researching the influnce and leverage the royal family has in the UK and I wanted to just ask... Given the Queen is under-utilizing her one vote in parliament and she stays pretty apolitical... Do you wish the royals were more involved in politics, or do you think their current level of humility is preferable?

That's the interesting thing; it seems like the British royals give their people a sense of historical / cultural continuity that makes them feel comfortable, yet at the same time (almost three times in the last 100 years) the people are quick to talk about cutting them off if they step out of line.

She might still have power. What started my dig was learning she always has a vote but that it's "known" that she almost never votes.

So then I was like, hey... Shouldn't the royals care about Brexit, etc etc

And if you think about it too hard, that means the Brits kinda killed God... Or at least their pope more or less.

*American, learning all this shit for the first time at 32*
Eh, at least the current leader of that country doesn't have a personal sex table decorated in gold.

why are toilet seats so hard to take off?

Like, I almost died today removing an old one

Eh, I managed to avoid that this time. people were suggesting I get out the drill or a hacksaw, but I was too chicken to rish it.

You guys know about the SSL shift with the search engines, right?

2019-06-13 21:32:50 UTC [Sparta #general]

Ok, so I got a call from goDaddy today. A rep spent a very long time with me, talking about this issue. He seemed more concerned with making sure that I understood it fully then trying to up-sell me on anything; What he was calling to warn about is that Google and Apple are either currently or about to start taking websites out of search results if they do not have a SSL certificate attached to them.

2019-06-13 21:34:36 UTC [Sparta #general]

Lots of youtuber websites and small news sites do not have an SSL because the cost can be anywhere between free and $80 USD. This information seems to be not well known, which is why goDaddy had taken it upon themselves to start calling customers without SSLs to inform them that this could affect their traffic.

2019-06-13 21:37:35 UTC [Sparta #general]

Well, a lot of people don't think to get one when they start out.

2019-06-13 21:38:04 UTC [Sparta #general]

And then proceed to never get one because they never look into it.

2019-07-01 22:25:19 UTC [Sparta #history]

I was looking into civil war history through a black perspective and I came across a number without a source; apparently the ratio of Freed Black men owning slaves might have been up to 40% ? And that these guys then may have sent their slaves to fight for the south against their will? That's just... messed up. And then it made me think; is it right, if America does do reperations, for the families of these black men who owned slaves, to then get money meant for people who's families suffered because of slavery?
