So I hear that this is where the Sceptic community is at
Well, I guess if there is one positive about Sceptism, it produces humor
I personally think that Sceptism is asinine, but I wanted to debate it with believers
Even if what you immediately perceive is unreliable, could you really convince yourself that it is night when the ruling faculty of your mind differs to tell you that it is day? You would think, even if you could not determine exactly how many individual specks of dust are on your desk, that you could gather enough epistemological evidence that would suffice to say that there is dust on your desk.
I personally laughed through the fragments of Timon and Silloi
```If a man should come forward and say: "Know that there is nothing that can be known, but all things are incapable of sure evidence;" or if another says, "Believe me and you will be the better for it, that a man ought not to believe any thing;" or again, if another should say, "Learn from me, man, that it is not possible to learn any thing; I tell you this and will teach you, if you please." Now in what respect do these differ from those? Whom shall I name? Those who call themselves Academics? "Men, agree with us that no man agrees with another: believe us that no man believes anybody."```
Of course you should carry some some doubt and apply criticism to your perception, but you must balance that with a measure epistemology.
Pyrrho's Sceptic school would have you throw that out
I don't understand what is so attractive about it. Epicurus had less destructive ideas.
I've never met anyone in my life who believes in Pyrrhonist Skepticism
The old iteration of it was developed for a reason
Last time I came in here, I claimed that I thought the purpose of this server was discussion of Mesopotamian history
So as long as I get a kick out of it, that's all that matters
Maybe I'll come back in 8 months with something else.
