Sup my dudes. I'm new here
Where's everyone from? :p
Seems like a nice wee chat
So like I assume this chat is strictly Catholic?
Lovely. Everyone have a nice day?
Sorry I was just reading the rules there. So what are people's beliefs here about the Eucharist? Or communion?
Looking at what Christ said. He said in John 6:63 "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you,ย theyare spirit, andย theyย are life." (KJV)
So it seems that Christ lays some context here to further clarify his position on what he meant when he broke bread and gave wine. Would everyone agree that he was focusing on the spiritual aspect of it and not the actual flesh?
Hmm how was he referring to our flesh when he said that in context to the last super?
It's a good question. However there are some early church Christians who also questioned transubstantiation
My main issue with Protestantism is the fact that there are so many different Denominations all claiming they're the only ones who are right.
The orthodox answer seems ambiguous. You could use that to justify symbolic. Consubstantiation & transubstantiation.
I haven't take communion in over a year in fear of breahing 1 Corinthians 11:29. I haven't fully figured it out yet
Breaching*
Fair enough :)
I'm raised protestant like so confession is something I've never done.
I don't think confession is imperative for salvation. Surely you can just repent and ask God for forgiveness.
To be fair. If I was to confess my sins it would be to someone I know and feel comfortable with. I don't see the benefit of telling some stranger in a box everything I've done wrong. And like ontop of that surely my sin is between God and I and it is for God to forgive. The priest is not essential in this.
@Daniil
Isn't our spiritual father God? Not necisarry a priest.
Yeah but there's a difference between our spiritual father and our earthly father. Our spiritual father is God surely.
Why not just teacher then? Or pastor? Less confusion and abiguity.
Isn't pastor translated from Latin meaning Shepard?
Corruption, abuse and a questionable theology on something's. But for the most part I have alot of respect for Catholics and orthodoxy. My mum is an Orthodox and my dad protestant.
I watched the horror movie the Nun last night and if there's any movie to put you off Catholicsm it's that one ๐
I know it's obviously exaggerated for the sake of horror but it was a creepy film haha was good tho
I actually find Catholicsm extremely Interesting despite my upbringing and differences. Some lovely architecture & traditions.
I've always had a soft spot for eastern Orthodoxy as I was baptized as a baby in an eastern orthodox monistry in Bulgaria as a baby. But then I was raised big prot ๐
Funny story mate. My mother is Bulgaria and my dad is Northern Irish. So I was born and raised in Northern Ireland so I'm Northern Irish with Bulgarian decent. I just went over as a baby every year to visit family

I'm from country Down man :)

@GodFearingEnglishman
Hahaha I live in a very Loyalist town - Newtownards there's Unionism everywhere.
Yeah mate but don't worry. That's all in the past now. Catholics live in ards and there's no bother. Just the town is basically dressed up as protestant Becasuse the majority are prod. So with union flags everywhere. But beneath the surface there's no actual pressure.
@GodFearingEnglishman
To be fair mate. That is football and football is very divisive and controversial. Football fans hate each other. If you were dressed as a priest you wouldn't have had beer thrown at you. But football controversy would cause that.
Well how's everyone doing today?
To be fair that is extremely rare. It's not like tobacco or alcohol where thousands die every year.
You're probably right. But if somone does only very occasionally have a puff. In the same way some people like their scotch or Brandy on a Saturday night. They would be fine
To be fair cannabis is far superior to alcohol.
Boris Johnston will be the next British PM for sure
I just hope he doesn't sell out Northern Ireland
Because I don't Wana join the Republic
Okay guys here is the big question. Roman Catholicsm OR Orthodoxy?
Why did the great schism happen?
Like apart from the papacy and cultural traditions what is the difference between orthodox and catholicsm.
Sounds like orthodox is superior to me. Why would you even practice celibacy when your whole faith revolves around Christ and pro creation.
Catholics - contraception is a sin as it provents pro creation.
Also catholics - priests can't have kids.

Are tattoos a sin?
Need a serious answer
Becasuse I Wana get a tattoo that symbolises that I'm From Ulster.
Something that tells a meaningful story
๐ dw I'm not a loyalist or an Irish Republican. I just want to show my Provence of birth.
See I have always had chicken skin on my arms so I wanted to cover it up too
Haha I'm just sitting here with my mate as he gets a Christian Tattoo
It's going to be a 5 hour sitting
Anyone else here got any cross tattoos?
Aslong as it's not been sacrificed or made as an offering to some demons or some shiz you're alright.
God works though the Baptist Church amen

Well my dudes I'm going to mass this evening. Wish me luck
I love being Catholic
I wonder how long I'll last blasting Gregorian chants, burning incense, praying & meditating on the Rosary with my window open in an extremely protestant neighbourhood lol
Guys. I'm not yet a confirmed Catholic but I've started the faith journey, but I've fallen to sin again :( I can't do confession yet so what do I do? Just repent and seek personal contrition?
I was baptised into the Orthodox Church as a baby but was raised as a Protestant. But I'm now on the faith journey to Catholicsm
Do I just pray and ask for forgiveness?
Okay not gonna lie, I was in the shower and my girlfriend posted a new insta and I fell to temptation and knocked one off. I'm pretty sure that's mortal :(
It's complicated haha
If I instantly feel bad after and regret it then what?
Is masturbation a grave matter?
Awww fudge
So what can I do now? Just pray and ask for mercy and apologize?
My priest told me that I won't be confirmed until Easter so that's like 9 months away
So that's 9 months of no confession
So all I can do is pray and apologize to Christ and ask for forgiveness directly from Christ
Yeah my priest gave me a book called "YouCat" which is basically Catholicsm in a nutshell for youths
Darn. When you become catholic you really do realise the grave seriousness of sin and feel like poop when we sin
Now I know why Judas ended his life after betraying Christ lol
The shame and guilt
Protestantism was so easy. It was just say a wee prayer and it'll be sweet. Now its alot more serious
But I guess heresy is easy
I go to mass now everyday. When I'm confirmed it'll be confession every week to be safe
I have a 10 day mass streak
Fair enough
Oops sorry
I can't wait until I'm confirmed
Say*
It's meant to say *say*
The OP messed up
