First time in this discord, and first time catching the call in show. Is it safe to say it's far too late to get in line?
that's fair
yeah, i saw the <#294847468229754880> stuff
o7
AOC Skipping the SOTU was actually a brilliant move. She takes a little bit of flak in the short term, but avoids all the video clips of her not applauding something good (like the rest of the white suit wearing - *totally not kkk* mafia) that the rest of her peers will have to live down come election season.
call her zed, use a canadian accent.
Good Stuff Maynard
dontchaknow
if i had been in this server longer than 30 minutes, that would have been a perfect time to tell potato that he's still friends with his dick... but i'm not that sure it wouldn't get me banned
"how can we be friends if i have such a hard time finding you"
jokesjokesjokes
i mean, i hear how they have to edit kevin all the time during the sunday show, i just didn't know how much fun y'all had in here on the regular. i should have joined up months ago.
blonde out there asking the questions every teenage boy was thinking of "but what about her mouth?"
to be fair, not just the teenage boys lol
this just popped up on my timeline
nah
yeah, being generous to her i think she just means so long as you register as a democrat
nah. you can give people free drinks if they show up to your bar with one of those "i voted" stickers. that's fine. you can't offer to buy/sell a vote for a particular candidate.
well i don't know your tastes, but she's a fairly successful cosplayer type and i wouldn't mind seeing her with less clothes on
well, not illegal as in police and prison, but it would have some civil liability, breach of contract type stuff
matt's gotta try the ben & jerry's half baked. it's got the cookie dough, but more stuff on top of that.
i probably do the ice cream at most once a year, but when i do, that's what i go for
historically when democrats show up dressed in all white, more often than not it's a klan meeting lol. it's a metaphor, i know they aren't actually klan members
i think you're focusing too much on a stray comment
as the kids say, "it's not that deep fam"
the debate point was that skipping the speech was a brilliant move for future reelection efforts
if anything, it's anti-white suits, and fashionist.
your debate style is unparalleled in this <#586033832277442590> channel lol. No.
No.
and because i'm not a hypocrite, i'll explain
My statement about white suits had nothing to do with race or class
how?
especially when it was presumably rich democrats, representatives, that i was specifically talking about
i think maybe you should go re-read what i originally typed because your interpretations are way off base
unless, of course, i'm the one making a mistake by taking anything you type to be genuine conversation?
a flippant reply to someone being troll-like is not disingenuous. Now, if i made a mistake in you being a troll because your response seemed to have almost nothing to do with my original debate prompt, well then i guess that's on both of us.
Original statement: aoc did a thing which i think is actually a better idea than people are going to give her credit for.
your response: YOU THINK AOC IS IN THE KLAN?
you can see where my confusion comes in, eh?
well good, i'm glad you learned your lesson
did you have any response to the original idea besides "no."
i'm neither disingenuous nor anti-white
okay, walk me through it then. where was i disingenuous or antiwhite. and no, sarcastic responses to apparent trollery do not count as disingenuous. they may count as mistaken interpretation, but that's it.
what was the classist, anti-white slur?
wow, okay. no. klansman is a descriptor for a man who is in the klan.
additionally, i don't call people trolls for disagreeing with me. that's childish and not knowing the definition of troll.
the *type* of disagreement can be trollish, but not disagreement in general. otherwise this channel would just be called Troll instead of Debate.
i have never once heard someone say that klansman is an anti-white slur until this day.
that's preposterous
the two are not even remotely comparable
calling someone faggot has been an insult for decades (at the least). that may not be the case anymore as the definition has changed over time.
klansman is a word the members of the klan used to describe themselves.
and furthermore, you were the first one to use klansman in our conversation, so it's hard for me to understand how that's my fault for bringing it up. i talked about the klan in general.
it is different for the other two words. they were insults but have been 'reclaimed' as they say. i still think they are wrong, but people can debate that. A word, in and of itself can't be classified as good or bad or anything, it's all in the intent of the person using it and the audience they're using it towards. I referenced the klan as an off-hand joke about their fashion choice, not some deep insult at poor white people. that's preposterous.
that's why i'm still engaging with you to try to clear up your misunderstandings. I'm neither anti-white, nor classist. i'm not really anti-any group of people, be it by factors they cannot control or associations by choice.
No, that's not what saying someone in is in the klan means. It means they're racists and bigots, cowards who hide behind white hoods while terrorizing a community. It has nothing to do with their wealth.
I will agree that the terms nazi and racist have been watered down to be almost meaningless insults though.
And your last paragraph, did you mean to call me a liberal? And if you did, what did you mean by "you liberals" because I don't think that applies to me. Unless maybe, on the off chance, you're referring to classical liberals like i've heard sargon talk about, then maybe?
I don't want to put words in your mouth, do you think I'm a liberal because i said something nice about aoc? let me say it loud and proud, i disagree with damn near everything i've ever heard her say.
i miss the snow. i'm stuck in florida. i still have my ac on most days.
same potato. same. you can always add more clothes when you're cold. being too hot just gets moist and gross
i've heard that georgia is more humid than florida (i'm kinda near tampa, a couple hundred feet from the water), but it gets pretty bad here.
oh, that's 100% true. when i was in qatar with 130 degree temps it was much better during the day when it felt like an oven compared to at night with the sun down and it just felt like living in a swamp. walking from one building to another was like trying to swim through sweaty gym bags... while also still being an oven.
ah, so it's not that you're trolling, it's that you're trolling. got it. please, stop being a troll.
isn't that what a circle of salt is for? or is that just devils?
lol, may i introduce you to "omaha nebraska rap" on youtube.
don't, i repeat, don't search that and click on the first video if you're going to hate yourself for having terrible catchy lyrics in your brain all day
it's not even that they're catchy saying "omaha nebraska" over and over again. but it gets stuck all the same. fml.
it's true
i call people who disagree by saying that's that are patently false
it's like someone saying "statistically speaking, everybody has 1 fallopian tube"
even though the stats back it up, it's complete rubbish
hey, at least we both agree that marxism is horseshit lol
i'm so sorry
i'm laughing, but i really am sorry
but i'm not? hahaha. marxism, socialism, communism are all terrible things
not only are they immoral, but also unethical
I'M GLAD WE'RE ON THE SAME TEAM HERE PAL
i do not and i am not. but go ahead, keep on burning down that straw man. you're doing great honey.
the only one here i see making tenuous connections to race and economic class based on a joke is you. i'm not a psychologist, but i feel like this might be what they call projection? I'm not sure.
racist, based upon the word racism, which in turn was based upon racialism was not invented by trotsky. it was first used by richard henry pratt to describe the evils of segregation based on race.
you didn't say you were making connections between race and class, that's what you did.
i do know what marxism is, that's why i oppose it.
i think maybe you don't know what the word empirically means because you keep using it like Vizzini saying inconceivable.
anything else? or are you going to try to keep calling me things i am not based on nothing but your own incorrect assumptions?
i, too, could make baseless assertions, i just choose not to. that seems to be something you have no problem doing.
I have never in my life advocated for seizing the means of production, having a class war, or for the superiority/inferiority of a group of people based on their race.
and how would you back up that claim that i'm something i'm not, a cultural marxist
maybe i should start with even more simple terms. how would *you* define cultural marxism?
> Lol. For the fifth time... someone who applies Marxian critiques of economics to social issues a racial (or sexual, etc) egalitarian who concocts oppression narratives to explain innate differences between groups.
@Unironic Ohio Supremecist
that? yeah, i don't do that.
and i have never proposed a massive government intervention in anything
did i say i opposed the civil rights movement?
is that one of the "several times" i applied marxian critique? you'll have to show me.
i didn't say either way, so don't play with that straw man.
i'm still waiting for you to back up the claims that i'm a cultural marxist, i'm not gonna continue going down rabbit holes with you
i said that's what he was doing, and that was his context.
your inability to separate reality from the fantasy in your head is not proof of dishonesty.
you literally concocted this theory that i'm a (insert label here). it's adorable.
you: "you're a cultural marxist"
me: "no i'm not"
you: "yes you are, you've been doing it all this time"
me: "prove it"
you: "look at how marxist you are!"
tell me the truth, are you anita sarkeesian in disguise?
okay, that's fair
that was a bit rude of me
debate rules is right, i should never have let myself get involved with a discussion not about my original idea.

AOC did a good job by not attending the state of the union. It'll be easier for her politically to defend not being there than it would have been to explain not applauding some of the very good things like her peers will have to do next cycle.
If her district is changing, I'm guessing she'll run against whomever is representing her new district instead?
So assuming she's running regardless, i think my point still stands?
thank you for your input. i value you.
yeah, i agree with you both. the census rules changes and redistricting will certainly hurt her. hell, i'm pretty sure i read an article saying her own district doesn't even approve of the job she's doing. and i hope she doesn't get re-elected because i think she's a pox on the system. i was specifically talking about her choosing not to go to the state of the union.
i think her base certainly approves of it, and it'll be easier to defend to centrists and swing voters
i mean, a small part of me hopes she stays relevant too for the same reasons lol
so would you say that her skipping the speech was irrelevant then? i said it was a good thing, but it seems like you disagree.
