my classmates are watching netflix during class and then wondering why they f--- up on the exam. I do not want them to spend 10 minutes online finding the cheapest metal machine containing tiny explosions and then waltzing around near me
again, that is NOT to say they should be legally barred from doing so
but when crafting legislation it is our responsibility to consider unintended consequences
I think if this was amended in scope and purpose it has alot better chance of both suceeding in intended purpose and public support
mold this into something more like the original Militia Acts, and I think you get the best of both worlds
you lose the legal liability minefields you can bet the courts will throw you towards, while maintaining the purpose of an armed society forever freed from the threat of gun bans
basically my suggestions on a macro level are 1. remove the coercion portion. If you replaced the infrastructure required for enforcement and used it to pay for everyone to take a free 'weapons handling, maintenance, and marksmanship' and a free rifle you'd still come out well ahead and 2. create some sort of incentive for people to self select to carry within 'soft targets', be that you eat the cost of their car registration or something.
in short @Mandatory Carry I agree with the purpose of making every able bodied citizen armed, but I think wisdom dictates we avoid a registry and avoid compelling people to carry who do not feel equipped to do so
it's a macro application of the draft, if everyone was drafted like Israel
^^^^
that part scares the shit out of me
y'all may not remember, but I had relatives saying I was gonna 'go timothy mcveigh' because I went to local tea party meetings
@[DGI]tech yep
I was like, 11 at the time
@CritterKiller big fax. Registries lead to bans, given time
a registry. That is pretty much the only way to make it enforceable.
lmao @CritterKiller they're throwing red flags out the door because Trump won't ban ARs by executive order, I doubt they'd play the long game on this one
Chuck Shumer has as much real power as any non-circuit court judge has in our system
sorry man
I just wanted to sink my teeth into a real argument
ahh IMO gun culture is not dying
..............................I'm an urban
so are most of my friends
alright @CritterKiller hit us with your hypothesis
@CritterKiller I can give you how I got into guns and my background, if that's what you're asking
yeah, I'd say that's largely true. I and my friends all grew up in center-right households, where religion meant something and was treated with some degree of reverence and respect, but none of our parents owned guns. I got into them basically through the internet, more or less. I started following politics at 13, and by the time I was 17 I had come to the conclusion that since guns were a reality it was my job to understand them. I watched countless youtube videos, I poured over the work of John Lott and CDC statistics, and of course the history of the founding of our country
I came to the conclusion it was my duty to arm myself, and the day I turned 21 I did so
I'd say gun culture is alive, but substantially different than in the past. I know quite a few guys who's parents were never into guns, but who played video games and then someone took them to a local range and sent them a few articles, and they were converted
"today's" gun culture is almost completely divorced of hunting/the outdoors, and far more connected to say, the conceal carry movement
That's my take
fewer gun owners 'per capita' but the gun owners you do meet are huge second amendment guys and own to protect against two legged predators, not four legged ones
lucky......open carry is illegal in my state
@CritterKiller I walked my parents through my reasons for wanting a gun, and the research I had done, and despite both of them being nominally anti gun they let me have em in the house
^^^^^^
I'm fine with that
big fax
y'all remember when Crowder would always go on about #giftagun? we need to bring that back
I'm saving to buy a good friend of mine one
it'd be an interesting thing to get Matt's take on, since if any state retains the old gun culture of past generations, Montana does
something to the effect of "what are your thoughts on the idea that the decline of hunting has led to the death of America's historic gun culture"?
or more along the lines of "Do you think suburbia's lack of exposure to guns is the reason most young people tend to react emotionally against the idea of civilian gun ownership"?
Because I tend to think from my experience the latter is a pretty open and shut truth
tbh, hunting is pretty boring
I like training alot more, and the cost is more or less comparable
unless you can do it in a helicopter
then hunting f---ing rules
but I have yet to do that
honestly you can dry fire centerfire firearms without gear
tru
I don't use dry fire for marksmanship, more for drawing my ccw and manipulating the gun
reloads too
ditto
always happy to have an engaging conversation about such things
probably Hesco lvl 4 plate
honestly just gonna run it in my backpack since my school has chosen to legally require me to disarm on campus
working on a duty AR too, but considering the dems want armor banned I figured I'd snap up at least one good one while I can
wish I was in the same boat. Like a moron I'm paying my way through college without any loans, so the budget is pretty tight
yeah well if the dems win it is
could've taken those fed loans and spent all the money on ARs and Armor
idk it might
but it won't pass congress. Some district judge will just throw a nationwide injuncton, National Review will write about how terrible that is, and we'll all forget 2 months later
the vote buying power loan forgiveness represents is gonna be hard to resist
nein
assuming that was directed at me
the militia profession
I'm in college, just considering joining law enforcement and even if I do not I want a durable rifle to trust in case SHTF
def
yeah if not for my name being dragged through shit 24/7 I'd consider border patrol
US Marshals are the other one that would be pretty awesome to be a part of
No , my parents are great for the most part
But the media attention/slander of BP agents gives me pause, especially since I want to raise a family of my own
Yeah that's what I'm kinda struggling to figure out
How much do I go for a professon to be a crusader vs how much do I put my hopes of a future family first?
It makes for something to think about anyway
ahhh I love it when Dems """"deny science"""""
that seems like a mild generalization
just tell him you're armed and won't tolerate shit
LA noire
@Deleted User so why have you joined this server? Is it to evangelize to us nazis, or to hone your own debate skills? Clearly it's not for the show since Matt is 'just another grifter'
the distinction between the two in your mind being what?
which would make nazism at odds with conservatism
not the argument I've heard
to a point. When Wikipedia says NAZI means National Socialist that's not exactly precise
unless you make socialism a much broader tent than it is normally defined as
that is to say, the Nazis called themselves socialists without having the government run the industries
@Deleted User back to my previous question, what is the distinction in your mind between a 'nazi' and a conservative
@Green Syndicalism right
it was also because socialism was all the rage and guiding the current is often easier than fighting it
@Deleted User then what's the difference between a conservative and a facist?
true *american* conservatism
yeah that's closer to Western Conservatism than American Conservatism
^^^^^
who value some of the same things as Western Conservatives
the rule of law, religion, etc
@Deleted User pretty shallow
also what's your answer to my question?
conserving need not be at odds with change
conserving freedom is a constant fight *for* change to the current system
???
