In a trade deal.

2019-12-05 10:23:05 UTC [JFG.world #general]

Realistically neither Turkey (rising nationalist) wants to join, neither Europe keen of it anymore.

2019-12-05 10:27:41 UTC [JFG.world #general]

@Muad'Dib It is not entirely unelected though. Nigel Farage for example been elected in Eu parliament for decade at least. Yes, there is a bureaucratic part - as UK has (Whitehawk).

The question lies in the details. So for example Orban often blames EU, but in the end his party takes important position. Had been voted in for decades now, always supported mostly Merkel's wing of People's Party.

2019-12-05 10:27:55 UTC [JFG.world #general]

@Rick Turpin English structure has it's problems too.

2019-12-05 10:28:22 UTC [JFG.world #general]

2014 around4 million people voted to UKIP in general election. Around 13 million to Conservatives.

2019-12-05 10:28:37 UTC [JFG.world #general]

Guess how many UKIP seats had been in House of Commons?

2019-12-05 10:30:00 UTC [JFG.world #general]

@Rick Turpin Again, that is not entirely true. So compare to UK electoral system Parliament of EU is more of a representation of people's will.

2019-12-05 10:30:01 UTC [JFG.world #general]

If people takes it seriously better.

2019-12-05 10:30:03 UTC [JFG.world #general]

In UK electoral system the winner takes it all.

2019-12-05 10:30:09 UTC [JFG.world #general]

So UKIP in 2014

2019-12-05 10:30:17 UTC [JFG.world #general]

With 4 million supporters have no seat.

2019-12-05 10:30:22 UTC [JFG.world #general]

In House of Commons.

2019-12-05 10:30:27 UTC [JFG.world #general]

None.

2019-12-05 10:30:45 UTC [JFG.world #general]

Less than 4 time of population support Conservatives had 320+ seats

2019-12-05 10:31:12 UTC [JFG.world #general]

(Hence people were fed up and teh fisrt time they can vote against David Cameron - they did.

2019-12-05 10:31:19 UTC [JFG.world #general]

(Berxit referendum)

2019-12-05 10:32:23 UTC [JFG.world #general]

Also there is a problem with English representation in UK politics. Devoluton created regional control of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, but where is the one for England?

2019-12-05 10:33:03 UTC [JFG.world #general]

You see the rise of English identification in the 2011 Cenus (and the loss of British)

2019-12-05 10:33:54 UTC [JFG.world #general]

Sure, one reason he did teh referendum is to stop the loss of voters to teh UKIP.

2019-12-05 10:34:10 UTC [JFG.world #general]

Also probably more than one regional assembly.

2019-12-05 10:34:26 UTC [JFG.world #general]

London has too much power due it's economical strength.

2019-12-05 10:35:12 UTC [JFG.world #general]

Probably some division of South East and West too.

2019-12-05 10:36:16 UTC [JFG.world #general]

Cornwall would suffer if whole South under one umbrella.

2019-12-05 10:37:19 UTC [JFG.world #general]

@Muad'Dib So I am not talking here about immigration, but I just heard it recently, need to read of the details. But there is a relic of London's council (local) election system I believe.

2019-12-05 10:37:38 UTC [JFG.world #general]

And that is companies and businesses has voting rights of seats of the city council too.

2019-12-05 10:37:49 UTC [JFG.world #general]

A heritage of the medieval guilt system.

2019-12-05 10:38:03 UTC [JFG.world #general]

Not sure the proportion.

2019-12-05 10:38:17 UTC [JFG.world #general]

Or what qualifies as a body to vote.

2019-12-05 10:38:31 UTC [JFG.world #general]

It is a medieval age heritage.

2019-12-05 10:38:48 UTC [JFG.world #general]

Yep as rick said.

2019-12-05 10:39:09 UTC [JFG.world #general]

So that definietly contributes of London's political landscape.

2019-12-05 10:39:27 UTC [JFG.world #general]

Not sure how much, agan, I will have to read the details.

2019-12-05 10:41:46 UTC [JFG.world #general]

@Rick Turpin I see.Now would be interesting to see the duties and executive powers between these different bodies.

2019-12-10 05:37:39 UTC [JFG.world #general]

A little bit about that picture with the elderly man front of a picture. There is a specific form of Alzheimer's effecting visual memory and recognising object. Terry Pratchett had it, I had been working a man who had same issues.

It is a very different process of not being able to self-recognise or self-identify. The degradation of the mind is different than average Alzheimer's.

And on the solution: I do not think one has to imply any policy other than give the right to end one's self in their own terms (what Terry Pratchett fought for in his last years).

2019-12-17 19:02:44 UTC [JFG.world #arts]

@Alfadir Zichy Mihaly had quite of a lot of sexual and "deviant" - pornographic art. Centaur having sex with woman, and so on. he also made illustration of some important literature piece, like the Tragedy of Man. I had a nice collection of his work, reprinted, published in Hungary.
