2019-04-25 02:13:43 UTC [Sparta #general]

Sargon on Jess Philips

2019-04-25 02:15:23 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

yes considering theres millions of them and they arent really great rifles

2019-04-25 02:15:33 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

granted most are rusted pieces of shit

2019-04-25 02:15:39 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

>like mine

2019-04-25 02:18:09 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

thats a dank ass sword, but wouldnt it also do a flat +3 damage as well?

2019-04-25 02:18:16 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

das allota damage

2019-04-25 17:02:07 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

I bought my mosin for like 130 bucks. Totally worth.

2019-04-25 17:02:21 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

Itโ€™s a fireball launcher

2019-04-25 19:32:34 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

military police in training, fully plan on sawing off that mosin and sending 7.62 article 15's to privates

2019-04-25 20:32:21 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

yes its what an officer does

2019-04-25 22:56:16 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

fighting is for the help

2019-04-26 14:48:55 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

this is why i dont play high level campaigns

2019-04-26 14:49:12 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

its like handing all my players nukes and expecting anything but tears

2019-04-26 22:38:49 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

What in tarnation is your DM even doing lol

2019-04-26 22:39:04 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Why do you even have 200k golf

2019-04-27 02:18:47 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

level 5 with that much conquest? should be like 15-20 if youve taken over an entire empire XD

2019-04-27 18:35:41 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

show him that. its technically for 3.5/pathfinder but i cant imagine it would be out of place in 5e

2019-04-27 18:36:03 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

>or you could play pathfinder which is much better <:trumped:440551399772913674>

2019-04-27 20:53:07 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

dude theyre a blast. Get some mates who are sharp (but not like *too* nerdy) and give it a try. even better drunk off your ass

2019-04-27 20:53:21 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

just dont show up in costume. thats weird.

2019-04-28 16:48:45 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Keep in mind that also includes the value of items. @MountainMan so like a +1 sword with an equivalent enchantment should eat up around 2k of their โ€œgold budget.โ€ I have no idea how that works in 5e though.

Chadfinder is best edition

2019-04-28 16:51:05 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Convert your 5e buddies. Outchad them

2019-04-28 17:30:53 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

I would say that sounds broken but 3.5 has its own balance issues if you donโ€™t plan carefully as a DM.

2019-04-28 17:35:28 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

That. Thatโ€™s actually a really good way to compare the editions. Iโ€™ve played a little 5e and donโ€™t care for it because it isnโ€™t nearly as flexible as 3.5/pathfinder. It also seems to really punish multiclassing.

2019-04-28 17:40:16 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Multiclassing is the fun part. Shit like Master Thrower/Rogue or other fun gish types donโ€™t seem like they can be recreated. Which is why 3.5 is my favorite. Way more ability to create a unique character (or at least feel like it)

2019-04-28 17:45:53 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

I always found poison to be too expensive as a player. Granted I donโ€™t get to play much, only DM.

Archetypes are the core of the edition, which is why I donโ€™t like it. Youโ€™re set on rails from the word go.

2019-04-28 17:47:43 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Wait thereโ€™s no ability damage in 5e at all!?

2019-04-28 17:48:14 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

>absolute disbelief

2019-04-28 17:48:32 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

What good is offensive necromancy then?

2019-04-28 17:49:24 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Tbh I never give enemies any kind of instant kill. Shit is straight up anti-fun. โ€œOh bill youโ€™re just dead, roll a new toon.โ€

2019-04-28 17:51:46 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

I use a kind of Left 4 Dead system. If everyone is KOโ€™d then everyone dies. Iโ€™ve only killed maybe 3 characters otherwise and thatโ€™s because they did something catastrophically retarded like try to be Indiana Jones in full plate.

2019-04-28 17:54:32 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

5e does seem like way more of a power trip. Low AC combined with shitting out Xd10 damage on a cantrip.

2019-04-28 17:56:32 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Too young have to played 2e, but from what Iโ€™ve been told it sounds overly harsh.

2019-04-28 17:57:50 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Thac0 is like call of Cthulhu right? Roll low to win kinda deal.

2019-04-28 18:07:27 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Oh wait I didnt even know Pathfinder was putting out a second edition, I thought you were implying it was something else. Holy shit my day is made

2019-04-28 18:12:24 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Iโ€™m sure as shit gonna have to look into it.

2019-04-28 20:35:43 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

screw the lore, i make my own anyway

2019-04-28 20:36:13 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

they can write whatever bullshit they want i just need numbers to go by

2019-04-28 20:51:56 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

honestly if anyone here has access to the playtest rules and table top sim im down to test it, even if we dont have a full party.

2019-04-28 21:41:28 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

fuckin sweeeeeeeet

2019-04-28 21:41:43 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

and no ive only played 5th because i dont really want to DM it

2019-04-28 21:43:19 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

ive also never used a premade campaign. ive homebrewed every campaign so far using a gameworld ive created over the years. Its works for me at least, especially when an NPC comes back to a new party 20 years older. always gets a positive reaction.

2019-04-28 23:12:58 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Eating a creature alive when there is no reason to do so is evil. Doing so for survival of when the creature is alive arguably chaotic. When the creature is dead and youโ€™re starving to death, who cares?

2019-04-28 23:17:06 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Usually I define evil as sadism. If itโ€™s just โ€œgrossโ€, itโ€™s chaotic or a character doing something they wouldnโ€™t normally do out of desperation.

2019-04-28 23:21:57 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Take canibalism. If you eat someone alive when theres a supermarket right next to you, youre a dick (evil). If you eat a dead guy you arent really hurting anyone, youre just kinda weird (choatic). If you have no other option, trapped on an island and your mate just died, do what you gotta do (neutral). If you'd rather starve to death instead of eat your mate, youre either a pussy or have principles (lawful).

2019-04-28 23:23:19 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

there isnt really a "good" option in there, but good doesnt usually need defined. Its just alturism or sacriface.

2019-04-29 15:21:17 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

So i got ahold of the PF2 playtest book

2019-04-29 15:21:25 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

some of this i like, some of this angers me sexually

2019-04-29 15:49:14 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

multiclassing is DOA it looks like

2019-04-29 15:49:37 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

as in not even included outside of a mechanic theyre still working on

2019-04-29 15:51:46 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

the upside is that the feat system means that there are other ways to get weird concepts in, so its not all lost. But to be honest i dont see why multiclassing got the axe so hard in 5e and now PF2

2019-04-29 16:21:20 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

i noticed that too, but you get literally dozens of the things

2019-04-29 16:21:32 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

feats are like candy

2019-04-29 16:22:12 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

if thats an issue ill have to see it come out in play. from the looks of it, i dont think thatll be an issue

2019-04-29 16:23:42 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

which is why im REALLY hoping that you can spend those feats to effectively multiclass because, as it stands, there is no way to do so at all outside of preset archtypes that arent even done and will likely be rail roaded

2019-04-29 16:26:23 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

sorta kinda? The thing is now that feats are typed and locked. For example fighter feats were just combat feats anyone could take previously. Well, now theyre just options for the fighter that are unique TO the fighter. I imagine theres some overlap (havent looked at all of them yet), but if it does what i think itll do, you can really build a fighter you want

2019-04-29 16:26:50 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

havent gotten there yet let me look

2019-04-29 16:28:00 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

>wtf is this shit

2019-04-29 16:28:13 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

thats getting tossed in my games lol thats retarded

2019-04-29 16:28:59 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

trying so hard not to make charisma a dump stat is what that is

2019-04-29 16:29:40 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

gish classes are already MAD as hell, it doesnt need to be worse

2019-04-29 16:30:01 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

granted ability points are also fire hosed out in this edition

2019-04-29 16:34:41 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

~~i like that humans arent manditory anymore lol~~

2019-04-29 16:36:11 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

looks like they still have the best racial feats though

2019-04-29 16:38:02 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

~~previously, the addition of an extra feat at level one and skill points out the ass made them way too good to play anything else imo. This is way better balanced.~~

2019-04-29 16:40:12 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

im seeing a lot of these are a joke though. +1 to attack against enemy X or 5 extra movement speed? lol might never even fight enemy X so fuck that noise.

2019-04-29 16:43:33 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

nevermind humans are still insane

2019-04-29 17:23:36 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

is it just me or is armor gonna be totally worthless?

2019-04-29 17:25:11 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

nevermind i didnt read that right

2019-04-29 17:25:37 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

i was thinking that AC was gonna be stupidly low, didnt factor in training

2019-04-29 17:48:03 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

only fighter gets power attack now. ouch.

2019-04-30 15:11:35 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

@Goblin_Slayer_Floki yeah that sounds like a great way of saying โ€œyouโ€™re ass is getting railroadedโ€.

2019-04-30 15:21:28 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Cantrips are back, but every class has the same max number of spells per spell slot. 3. On the surface that sounds like way too little but I havenโ€™t gone over every inch of the class pages yet so they might get other stuff outside of that.

So far Iโ€™ve noticed that general feats from previous editions are now class specific. Only fighter gets power attack. Only barb gets cleave. Only rogue gets dex to damage feats and so on. Personally I absolutely despise the idea of Barbarian and Paladin not getting power attack.

Action econ is totally reworked. You get three actions in a turn, and they can all be used to do stuff. Spells usually take up two actions. Multiple attacks in a round come at -5 and -10 respectively. Considering that AC scales at a 1 to 1 with level now Iโ€™m not even seeing fighters pulling off multiple attacks on NPCs that are their level, but will absolutely obliterate trash mobs like town guards or criminal goons.

2019-04-30 15:22:40 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

>worthy of note in my games I use mostly humanoid enemies, so thatโ€™s an important metric for me

2019-04-30 15:27:03 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Skill system looks goofy. I donโ€™t like it. Scales 1 to 1 with level + a flat bonus if youโ€™re trained to some degree or -4 if you arenโ€™t.

Proficiently kinda works like 5e but thereโ€™s four or so levels right? Untrained to mastered. This applies to damn near everything. Weapons, armor, skills and for monks being unarmored. So if youโ€™re a level 5 dude wearing plate armor, your armor bonus is 10 if youโ€™re trained. Heavy armor is gonna be a meme in this edition I can already tell.

2019-04-30 15:28:11 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Like somehow plate armor is nearly as protective as....cloth. Ish. Depending.

Makes monks have good AC though.

2019-04-30 15:28:26 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Comparatively at least

2019-04-30 15:29:11 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Shoulda just stuck with the old skill point system.

2019-04-30 15:30:06 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

No point in dex fighters unless youโ€™re going to be an archer it looks like.

2019-04-30 15:31:27 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

I will say though, with the reworked action econ I can see a lot of potential for battlemages to be a ton of fun.

2019-04-30 15:34:53 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Wonder how grappling works.

2019-05-01 13:47:53 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

This why Iโ€™m going guard and ROTC. If the army needs me they can call me, otherwise fuck off while I do my own thing.

2019-05-01 13:48:35 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Wut

2019-05-01 13:48:51 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Do fighters get that many attacks that early?

2019-05-01 14:02:46 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

>slapped

2019-05-01 14:04:44 UTC [Sparta #tabletop]

Dropping six attacks on a goon. Bitch. Slapped.

2019-05-01 18:23:28 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

@Legiondude I'll have you know that my ROTC batt has AT LEAST a 50% APFT pass rate <:thronk:441701565607444482>

2019-05-01 19:06:26 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

And ONLY most of those passing are around 180.
The rest are 300 PT stud weirdos, one of which runs his 2 mile in 10 minutes. Heโ€™s a fuckin freak of fuckin nature.

2019-05-01 21:04:30 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

it is. officers are retarded.

2019-05-01 21:07:55 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

well i can tell you that theyre a hell of a lot more selective than the army. i think their OTC only passes around 1/3rd of applicants. Army is like 84 percent lol

2019-05-01 21:08:49 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

thankfully weve gotten new and better cadre in my program that are actually worth a damn, i suspect it will be much better in the coming semesters.

2019-05-01 21:09:14 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

^

2019-05-01 21:10:02 UTC [Sparta #firearms]

My first year was entirely student lead because all the cadre quit or somethin. It was one Lt Col. doing the work of like 5 people and tasking stuff to students way before they could handle it.
