so that's what I'm curious about
Never got around to building it, so we'll never know
<:think_woke:378717098681171988>
Closest was the HL 295(?) family used for the French heavies in the postwar
Considering how mediocre some of the French production was after WW2
Leaves you wondering.
The M4A2 in WT is the diesel variant, with 100-150 less horsepower than the other M4s
And because torque is modelled so poorly, it's absolutely gutless
especially gutless when trying to turn (or do *anything) at low speeds, for bonus irony
@Legiondude You got Combat Mission? You should.
I love how <#383108664380227595> became #tanks
Can't help that I'm a tank nerd
fucking tankie
Used to make corrections to posts on /r/tankporn for the most minute details wrong
Like mixing up a KV-13 with an IS No. 2
I guess that's why you got a tank for your pfp then
There was no M4A5, it was a slot saved for the Canadian's Ram tank
What are these notes *for*?
``` And the whole Tommy-cooker/Ronson label appears to stem more from incorrect stowage of the ammunition (something the British should've learned to do properly after the Hood incident) and the German practise of shooting up disabled tanks to prevent recovery, rather than the Sherman being catastrophically more prone to catch fire than other tanks. ```
```Shermans were called Ronsons because.. because "a flip and it's lit"?
Seriously though, the slogan/tagline in both the picture you linked to and the picture I posted earlier appears to simply be "world's greatest lighter." Besides, weren't Zippos and ZigZags more popular with servicemen?```
wew lad
@M4Gunner what's with the classes my dude
```Cooper never saw combat. He only saw wrecks and damaged tanks. He never paid any attention to any German wrecks, nor leaned anything about them, yet made claims about how much better they were than the Sherman (despite the Sherman being better than most of the German tanks)```
lol
are you taking notes in C++?
use a PDL
what page did you get that screeny from?
It's been entertaining re-reading this, actually
Fuckin' "BADNESS" and his Wehraboo nonsense ๐คฃ
@Reaps where's the wehraboo post?
Just find any posts from BADNESS
or his.. 'father'
who 'teaches at a university'
`and only posts links from wikipedia`
So now I'm a faggot chick?
Hey @Deleted User wassup ayyyyyyy lmao <:pepe_smug:378719408341909506>
dat the fucking alt account tho
"But_whole"
I'll never forget the last big argument I had on War THunder's forums
This guy was telling me that materials from the Bundesarchiv, used by credited tank historians like Hilary Doyle and Walter Spielberger, are propaganda.
Not German propaganda though
It's all planted by the British
To make the Germans feel better about themselves
๐คฃ
I like how Gaijin devs rejected the Tigerfibel as a legtimate source
it's the literal instruction manual for the operation of PV and PVI tanks
If you can find the link to your argument I'd love to read it
heh
I remember why you'd screencap something like that too <:pepe_smug:378719408341909506>
Also lel @ BADNESS and his 'father' NUMBER_SIX making the worst arguments known to mankind
```Then whats your excuse for the battles of Arracourt and Lorriane when the 4th AD out right -beat- 3 Panther Brigades using the 75mm Shermans?```
This makes me laugh in particular because I remember someone arguing how great German tanks were and using Keaserine Pass as his example
Then when Arracourt got brought up he's like "aw nah you can't use that because the German tankers were n00bs"
like, nevermind you cited the first major armoured engagement of the US in the war for your argument
Fucking Wehraboos
*t h a t ' s w h a t I w a s i n t e n d i n g*
It also turned out to be a useful thread
and I remember telling you I was going to dig threads like that up for you, a few weeks back
lol, fuckin' *what*? ๐คฃ
ghetto US tank crew right there
"ayyy u fuckin' boxy-ass motherfucker panzer 4"
M4A1(76): "mah dick be seven inches but y'all Germans only need *three*"
lol
just in case the reference wasn't fucking obvious
mmmmmmmwat
actually, I'll roll with the notion of a seventeen pound dick
US M1 76 is not the same as the British 17Iber
also 17Ibs refers to the weight of the shot
Which, to me, is a dumb way to classify your guns, but whatevs
yes
Brits used the weight of the shot being fired to classify their guns
which, as you can imagine, when you wind up using multiple ammo variants for the same weapon..
๐คฃ
I had to take some liberties to make the joke work
Because I thought you legitimately thought it was seventeen pounds
ANYway
If I recall, when the Comet came into production, they had to refer to the cannon as a '77mm' to make sure that ammo for the 76mm 17Iber and the Comet's 76mm didn't get mixed up
Because they used different ammo
I think the shell casings were longer
I don't think any of them were interchangeable
let's go have a look
17Iber fired 76.2ร583mm
can't find the cartridge size for the 77 HV at a glance
however,
```This has the benefit of greater ease of use on tanks, many of which would not have sufficient turret space to accommodate the breech length and recoil distance of the 17-pounder. Similarly, the smaller 3" based ammunition was easier to store and handle in the tank's cramped interior.
This new gun's ammunition was not interchangeable with the 17-pounder, however, and to prevent confusion over ammunition supplies, it was renamed the 77 mm HVโthe 'HV' standing for High Velocityโalthough it was the same 76.2 mm calibre as the 17-pounder.```
Similar with the Germans
KwK40 for the Panzer IV
although they'd change the name of the exact same gun if fitted into something like an assault gun
and then you've got KwK 43 for the long 75
Usually I'll just refer to german weapons as 'long' or 'short' variants
eg long 88
But you can use the L/ designation too
eg 88 L56 for the Tiger I's 88mm
and L/71 for the Tiger II's 88mm
basically the higher that number, the longer the barrel is relative to the calibre of the weapon
