2018-09-03 23:15:36 UTC

With a 3D printer, mill, and some arduinos, you could be *very* dangerous lol

2018-09-03 23:26:01 UTC

You could 3D print your own replica of an old Commodore or w/e

2018-09-03 23:37:36 UTC

@Fitzydog A 3D printer and mill would take a long time to get

2018-09-03 23:38:09 UTC

*Think of all the activities!*

2018-09-03 23:38:26 UTC

i do, all the time

2018-09-03 23:39:03 UTC

2018-09-03 23:39:13 UTC

I did scoop up some blank PCBs

2018-09-03 23:41:10 UTC

I'm going to get some Arduino Nanos to use with these, for when I have a good circuit/device I'd like to actually keep

2018-09-03 23:41:27 UTC

What're you going to make?

2018-09-03 23:43:27 UTC

I've been wanting to make some LED lighting for my PC case, I'm working on the RC tank. You can also make little synths with these things, and thats right up my alley

2018-09-03 23:44:32 UTC

Also some small projects for around the house, for instance, i did a photoresistor to LED to have it only turn on when it gets dark, and I'd like to study more to see how I can use it to control the floodlights on the porch

2018-09-03 23:45:59 UTC

also, longterm, plus, this wouldnt be mainly an arduino project, although the experience in wiring/voltages/etc will be helpful, but i want to make my own home security

2018-09-03 23:46:48 UTC

I also want to make some LED lighting modules for my lego crap

2018-09-03 23:47:21 UTC

So, once I get a little further in, i could easily go through quite a few little Nano boards

2018-09-03 23:47:35 UTC

Sounds pretty neat

2018-09-03 23:47:55 UTC

I should narrow my interests to something I can sell

2018-09-03 23:48:34 UTC

or something that would help me get a job

2018-09-04 00:10:42 UTC

Hell, I dont even have the drill bits I'd need for this DIY PCB project

2018-09-04 00:11:06 UTC

specifically I don't yet have any drill bits in millemeters, only fractional inches <:GWfroggyFeelsBaguetteMan:398569671290257415>

2018-09-04 00:12:08 UTC

2018-09-04 00:27:50 UTC

Wonder if the parts list, all told, cost any less than a Bugatti ๐Ÿคฃ

2018-09-04 00:28:33 UTC

You looked at the retail(regular size) Bugatti Chiron? I really wanna make a StuGIII in this style

2018-09-04 00:30:20 UTC

for the 1:1 sized lego chiron, my first thought was, "how? technic chassis tend to be a bit flimsy/flexy"

2018-09-04 00:31:08 UTC

It's an aluminum chassis, with real wheels, but everything else is lego

2018-09-04 00:31:10 UTC

those trans-red liftarms tho

2018-09-04 00:31:33 UTC

oh ffs, aluminum chassis

2018-09-04 00:31:58 UTC

2018-09-04 00:32:29 UTC

they should have at least moulded aluminum technic beams instead

2018-09-04 00:34:02 UTC

It's still 90% lego

2018-09-04 00:34:18 UTC

and then how many pounds of metal

2018-09-04 00:34:32 UTC

10% of a car is a lot of raw materials

2018-09-04 00:34:51 UTC

Maybe... 400lbs of metal?

2018-09-04 00:35:04 UTC

those flexible skin body panels though? gorgeous

2018-09-04 00:35:29 UTC

400lbs. so to answer the question can you make a REAL car out of legos? Fuck no.

2018-09-04 00:36:00 UTC

They used Technic motors

2018-09-04 00:36:06 UTC

2018-09-04 00:36:14 UTC

2018-09-04 00:37:07 UTC

now to be honest they would have got better performance by going with a 3rd-party motor solution made FOR legos, IE compatible with them. theres a few kits you can put in your lego RCs to make them faster

2018-09-04 00:38:11 UTC

Technic 1:1 M4A1 when tho

2018-09-04 00:38:38 UTC

that flexible skin design is perfect for the enormous problem of translating a curvy sherman to bricks

2018-09-04 00:39:07 UTC

I can see a fully lego tank more possible than a lego car

2018-09-04 00:39:19 UTC

why is that

2018-09-04 00:39:32 UTC

Suspension is different

2018-09-04 00:40:01 UTC

2018-09-04 00:40:11 UTC

I just got to the part with the lego electric drill

2018-09-04 00:40:15 UTC

2018-09-04 00:41:18 UTC

2018-09-04 00:42:18 UTC

granted it looks insanely easy to make, and not many specialized parts

2018-09-04 00:43:21 UTC

the lighting is fantastic

2018-09-04 00:44:12 UTC

2,304 PF motors <:GWfroggyPepoThumb:400751103223922689>

2018-09-04 00:44:58 UTC

There's no kill like overkill.

2018-09-04 00:48:43 UTC

If they gave me the keys to the car I might have to crash it just to watch it explode ๐Ÿ˜„

2018-09-04 00:49:28 UTC

I'd love to work on some stupid project like this

2018-09-04 00:50:27 UTC

at over one million LEGO parts, I'd like to mention that the avg. price of a LEGO piece is 10 cents, although technic parts are in general priced above average

2018-09-04 00:51:27 UTC

So this is at least a $100K BOM plus chassis/wheels

2018-09-04 02:53:37 UTC

BTW @Fitzydog if I really need to I can cutout one of these Copper Clad PCB boards with my dremel

2018-09-04 02:54:53 UTC

Hmm, fair enough point

2018-09-04 03:03:44 UTC

no point, just that it can be done. its always better to use machines, plus i have shaky hands

2018-09-04 06:23:14 UTC

@Uglypatch those look cool man

2018-09-04 07:43:30 UTC

@M4Gunner i think its called Veroboard

2018-09-11 21:17:55 UTC

@Deleted User why did you think i used gimp?

2018-09-11 21:20:14 UTC

because you're a true furry

2018-09-11 21:20:25 UTC

why does that mean i use gimp lmao

2018-09-11 21:20:32 UTC

gimp is shit

2018-09-11 23:19:17 UTC

You know what harder to draw than hands?

2018-09-11 23:19:21 UTC

2018-09-11 23:19:37 UTC

Way more dynamic than you think

2018-09-12 01:08:44 UTC

Or feet if you're Rob Liefeld

2018-09-12 01:12:16 UTC

Rob Liefeld dont need to draw feets, he just give everyone pouches for days

2018-09-12 01:21:11 UTC

He certainly owns his criticisms, I'll give him that

2018-09-12 01:24:18 UTC

Bit this still exists unironically

2018-09-12 01:24:24 UTC

2018-09-12 02:17:10 UTC

GIMP really is the worst

2018-09-12 02:18:09 UTC

Its okay if you almost never need it, but the time it takes to familiarize yourself with it is more time than you should ever use using it

2018-09-12 02:19:06 UTC

If someone needs a free image manip that badly, I always suggest Microsoft *Paint.net*

2018-09-12 05:32:59 UTC

@Deleted User I'm pretty sure Krita is the go-to for furries these days https://krita.org/

2018-09-12 05:34:26 UTC

this is their mascot

2018-09-12 05:34:37 UTC

2018-09-12 05:34:39 UTC

"Krita the Cyber Squirrel"

2018-09-12 05:34:43 UTC

2018-09-12 12:21:55 UTC

yeah. Furries are cheapskates. Atleast weebs buy Clip Studio.

2018-09-12 12:22:30 UTC

I got Clip studio becuase of it's Batch-file mechanic for illustrating and printing books

2018-09-12 13:27:58 UTC

lol wtf is this

2018-09-12 13:28:05 UTC

you just trace 3d models?

2018-09-12 13:38:15 UTC

Lol no. I use photoshop to create illustrations and then use clip studio to format the pages of my books for print

2018-09-12 13:38:44 UTC

@turtwig Do you seriously only use Clip Studio for 3D models?

2018-09-12 13:40:28 UTC

Clip Studio is a professional illustration software for printing books and comics. Yes it is Japanese and yes it was originally made for Manga. But it's a one time payment software... unlike Photoshop...

2018-09-12 13:44:20 UTC

2018-09-12 13:44:27 UTC

I don't use it at all

2018-09-12 13:45:00 UTC

I googled it and immediately it looked like it was a shitty 3d modelling tool so you could trace your manga

2018-09-13 12:44:48 UTC

@turtwig Nah, thats a new feature they're trying to Market. In Japan Clip Studio is their go-to software, whereas here in the west it's Photoshop.

> The difference is that Photoshop was really just a Photo-manipulation tool which was modded for drawing.
> Monthly subscription service that requires internet connection
> Doesn't have basic drawing tools by default (such as a symmetry tool and synthetic paint), requires mods.

__Clip Studio Pro__
> Clip Studio (previously named "Manga Studio") is a purpose made illustration and comics software, with inbuilt book formatting and batch file exports
> Single time licence purchase, doesn't require internet connection.
> Free updates for life, but expensive licence for full version.
> Has an entire tool-set dedicated to rules and symmetrical rulers. Every tool can be modified to extreme lengths. All tools are default or provided in free updates.

2018-09-13 12:47:30 UTC

@turtwig I don't make manga, but Clip Studio is a great tool if your making a book or comic you want to print professionally. Alternatively you have Sketchbook Pro, which was recently made free.

2018-09-13 12:48:23 UTC
2018-09-13 12:54:08 UTC

Photoshop is the monthly feed gay

2018-09-13 12:54:48 UTC

I have it becuase I'm at Uni... but after I leave I'm going to dump it

2018-09-13 12:55:02 UTC

I'd say almost anything is a better alternative to it, but if I found I had to use it I would just try to buy a retail copy of CS2

2018-09-13 12:55:21 UTC

gotta be like ยฃ500 quid right?

2018-09-13 12:55:29 UTC

I'm using Aseprite, which is also gay

2018-09-13 12:55:50 UTC

try Sketchbook pro

2018-09-13 12:56:10 UTC

it used to be a paid software that went free only a few months ago

2018-09-13 12:56:26 UTC

Whatever you do do not use the GIMP

2018-09-13 12:57:28 UTC

My current favourite illustration software are ***Clip Studio Pro EX*** and ***Sketchbook Pro***

2018-09-13 13:53:50 UTC

I got full CC

2018-09-13 13:53:59 UTC

suits my needs ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

2018-09-13 13:55:18 UTC

unfortunately there isn't an acceptable alternative to illustrator

2018-09-13 14:02:00 UTC

I agree

2018-09-13 14:02:20 UTC

I use illustrator from time to time, but the layering system drives me crazy

2018-09-13 14:07:40 UTC

my job is almost entirely illustrator based rip

2018-09-13 14:10:40 UTC

Graphics design?

2018-09-13 14:11:10 UTC

sorta, yeah

2018-09-13 14:11:13 UTC

sign making

2018-09-13 14:11:28 UTC

yeah, thats under the umbrella of graphic designer

2018-09-13 14:11:34 UTC

so I gotta do graphic design shit but like also gotta draw the front of buildings

2018-09-13 14:11:38 UTC

and shit like that lol

2018-09-13 14:12:08 UTC

so you do the preliminary sketches aswell

2018-09-13 14:12:11 UTC

and structural drawings of internal frames and shit

2018-09-13 14:12:22 UTC

to show the client the potential outcome

2018-09-13 14:12:28 UTC

2018-09-13 14:12:38 UTC

2018-09-13 14:12:40 UTC

which I typically mock up in Photoshop

2018-09-16 01:13:11 UTC

3D printers are the replicators of today.

2018-09-16 03:07:59 UTC

Is that nigga wearing blush

2018-09-16 03:12:02 UTC

I wonder how long these shoes would hold together

2018-09-16 03:12:22 UTC

I can burn through shoes pretty quick

2018-09-17 20:53:49 UTC

dem polygons m8 XD

2018-09-17 21:24:53 UTC

2018-09-20 05:16:17 UTC

@DanConway Have you seen Tom Lovell's paintings?

2018-09-20 05:18:12 UTC

I found him through this painting depicting The Battle of Belleau Wood.

2018-09-20 05:18:30 UTC

Sweet painting

2018-09-20 05:19:08 UTC

He's pretty amazing.

2018-09-20 05:19:32 UTC

Whatโ€™s that one of?

2018-09-20 05:21:09 UTC

It's called Gladiator's Race

2018-09-20 05:22:21 UTC

It just keeps getting better.

2018-09-20 05:23:07 UTC

2018-09-20 05:23:37 UTC

This guyโ€™s art is pretty sweet

2018-09-20 05:24:17 UTC

yeah, I recommend doing an image search for him and just spending some time

2018-09-20 05:25:06 UTC

So many awesome paintings with so much character.

2018-09-20 05:27:21 UTC

I could just keep posting amazing paintings but I think I'll let people do some discovering.

2018-09-20 05:27:53 UTC

@Thomas the Sowell Train [USA] One of my favorite painters is Albert Bierstadt

2018-09-20 05:28:18 UTC

2018-09-20 05:32:16 UTC

These are some damn glorious landscapes.

2018-09-20 05:33:21 UTC
