2020-02-06 01:39:59 UTC

Ah fuck thank you for the trail signs

2020-02-06 01:40:03 UTC

I'd forgotten mine

2020-02-19 13:45:11 UTC

Question to all of you: Have you ever challenged yourself to survive in the woods? A few years back a buddy and I went into the woods for 14 days with only a hatchet, firesteel, pot, a simple fishing kit, and a .22 rifle(with ammo)

2020-02-19 13:45:55 UTC

We lasted 9 days before we went home early after killing a wild hog (didn't want to let 80+lbs of meat spoil)

2020-02-19 13:46:16 UTC

I lost 12lbs in 9 days

2020-02-19 13:46:28 UTC

I used to consider it though I never did pull the trigger on just doing it

2020-02-19 13:46:39 UTC

I hadn't planned for anything extended

2020-02-19 13:47:05 UTC

Fuck dude. I wish I could do that but there's no where in PR I could do it and I would probably die since I lack survival skills <:pinkwojak:673420781182779442>

2020-02-19 13:47:51 UTC

Doing something like this would be more of an exercise in building those survival skills

2020-02-19 13:48:07 UTC

Location scouting can be a bitch though

2020-02-19 13:48:07 UTC

Totally agree with you

2020-02-19 13:48:24 UTC

But man, I think I would have to survive off iguanas and lizards

2020-02-19 13:48:34 UTC

Cause there's no big game animal in PR

2020-02-19 13:48:38 UTC

People eat iguanas often right?

2020-02-19 13:48:47 UTC

I mean it's frowned upon but I know people do it

2020-02-19 13:48:51 UTC

Some areas of the island yea

2020-02-19 13:49:05 UTC

You'll only learn through practice, and you can say "hell yeah I'm country I can kill a possum with a slingshot and eat its liver", but until you prove it, you'll never know.

2020-02-19 13:49:10 UTC

Man wish i had the time off of work to bushcraft for a week

2020-02-19 13:49:39 UTC

Nah, it became normalized cause there was an iguana pandemic and we had to kill a bunch so parts of the island started eating them

2020-02-19 13:49:42 UTC

I was thinking about this last night and how I've done myself a disservice by not forcing myself innawoods

2020-02-19 13:50:03 UTC

Ahh, I had Mexican friends who frowned upon it. So it must be a regional thing

2020-02-19 13:50:21 UTC

@Mr. Verboten you don't need big game animals. The best meal I ate on that 9 day adventure was fish. We found wild asparagus, wild sage, and wild onion. We used that to make fish soup.

2020-02-19 13:50:25 UTC

I forgot we also have caimans in the island

2020-02-19 13:50:27 UTC

from a black crappie.

2020-02-19 13:50:45 UTC

Well shit man

2020-02-19 13:51:15 UTC

I'm really going to see if I can find a "camping" area in which I could go and survive for a bit

2020-02-19 13:51:26 UTC

location scouting is a big part of it

2020-02-19 13:51:28 UTC

Even if its just two days with one night, DO IT

2020-02-19 13:52:07 UTC

I say fuck scouting. As long as its legal, just jump in and try it. Its not a challenge if you purposefully plan to be near a freshwater source or a food source

2020-02-19 13:52:44 UTC

There's a fuck ton of iguana hunting business in Puerto Rico holy shit

2020-02-19 13:53:14 UTC

That's awesome

2020-02-19 13:53:18 UTC

I want to try iguana

2020-02-19 13:53:34 UTC

Come to think of it, I've never had any reptilian meats

2020-02-19 13:53:54 UTC

See that's the thing I like in the metropolitan area I would have to open up a map and see which areas in the island I could go and survive in

2020-02-19 13:53:56 UTC

Gator is pretty big here which makes that kind of weird

2020-02-19 13:54:17 UTC

I'll try to find pictures of our adventure and post them. We made camp inside a cave and scavenged trash from the river for bedding. We built a raft from wood and cordage for fishing.

2020-02-19 13:57:02 UTC

I remember finding a few really good urban stealth camping videos, but looking it all up again it's just autists with vans that they converted into pod shelters

2020-02-19 13:57:14 UTC

LOOK AT THIS SHIT

2020-02-19 13:59:26 UTC

gonna have to go through my kit bags today and work on refining what I've got

2020-02-19 13:59:34 UTC

If anyone comes to PR for hunting you could go to mona island and have a bushcraft experience

2020-02-19 13:59:59 UTC

>4ft iguana

2020-02-19 14:00:06 UTC

holy shit

2020-02-19 14:00:16 UTC

I've never actually seen one

2020-02-19 14:00:47 UTC

Yea man

2020-02-19 14:00:52 UTC

they get fucking huge

2020-02-19 14:01:48 UTC

Some of my buddies were in PR in December, they keep talking about going back sometime

2020-02-19 14:02:26 UTC

I think the biggest they can get at 5.5 ft

2020-02-19 14:02:37 UTC

Nice man

2020-02-19 14:03:15 UTC

The island is nice, the politics are cringe but overall its good

2020-02-19 14:04:23 UTC

politics are always cringe

2020-02-19 14:04:35 UTC

Cool, my buddies are skater bros so they, swam, skated, and drank

2020-02-19 14:05:10 UTC

skating is rad

2020-02-19 14:06:10 UTC

Ya dude, once ya get the hang of it its addictive

2020-02-19 14:06:34 UTC

Yea, but the thing about politics in the island as that at least in the last couple of years, they've endangered people for the sake of pushing an agenda. i.e. not giving aid and keeping it a secret from the public

2020-02-19 14:07:37 UTC

All that aid, locked up in warehouses that was supposed to be for hurricane vics right?

2020-02-19 14:07:47 UTC

I would recommend you and your friends to save up some money and hoop into a catamaran and go to Vieques, really kino stuff

2020-02-19 14:07:52 UTC

Yea man

2020-02-19 14:08:02 UTC

Its real horse shit

2020-02-19 14:08:23 UTC

There was also aid that was left in an air runway

2020-02-19 14:08:40 UTC

Bro... thats fucked up

2020-02-19 14:09:45 UTC

I know and one of the reasons why it happened is cause the mayor of municipality had beef with Trump and she was pushing the "Oh aid has arrived from the USA cause muh trump hates us."

2020-02-19 14:10:55 UTC

I dont really care about politics a bunch, but some ppl have TDS

2020-02-19 14:11:18 UTC

And there's also has been issues with the US not giving us I think 16 million dollars on hurricane relief money but I totally get him corruption runs deep in the government of those 16 million the public will probably only get 6 million

2020-02-19 14:12:06 UTC

But anyways Ill leave it there, don't want to get more political on the bushcraft channel lol

2020-02-19 14:13:01 UTC

Lol. So whats on Vieques? Mostly just island or trees n shit

2020-02-19 14:14:07 UTC

Yea its mostly a tourist island, has the most beautiful beach in the caribbean, some army tanks in the beach, a beautiful coral reef and I think wild horses

2020-02-19 14:14:27 UTC

which are US government property

2020-02-19 14:15:15 UTC

Cool, might convince the skater bros to check it out when i go with them down there

2020-02-19 14:15:50 UTC

Its pretty cool

2020-02-19 14:15:58 UTC

You can also hike around the island

2020-02-19 14:16:16 UTC

However I wouldn't recommend it if you go in a catamaran

2020-02-19 14:16:55 UTC

Since everything is timed you might be half way around the island when the catamaran is leaving which would suck lol

2020-02-19 14:18:42 UTC

So whats the alternative? Hire a cheap boat to take ya over. I assume the catamaran is a group boat?

2020-02-19 14:19:00 UTC

HOLY SHIT WE CAN PIGEON HUNT DURING FALL WHAT THE FUCK

2020-02-19 14:19:32 UTC

I think there are ferries that take you to the island

2020-02-19 14:19:41 UTC

As well as planes

2020-02-19 14:19:55 UTC

But obviously the ferries are cheaper

2020-02-19 14:20:23 UTC

Cool, me and the bros have a good cash flow, cause we work 7-5 jobs

2020-02-19 14:21:19 UTC

Perfect, there's also a camping ground in the island so you could bring your gear if I remember correctly

2020-02-19 14:21:46 UTC

However you will also have to bring extra food and necessary items
