Ah fuck thank you for the trail signs
I'd forgotten mine
Question to all of you: Have you ever challenged yourself to survive in the woods? A few years back a buddy and I went into the woods for 14 days with only a hatchet, firesteel, pot, a simple fishing kit, and a .22 rifle(with ammo)
We lasted 9 days before we went home early after killing a wild hog (didn't want to let 80+lbs of meat spoil)
I lost 12lbs in 9 days
I used to consider it though I never did pull the trigger on just doing it
I hadn't planned for anything extended
Fuck dude. I wish I could do that but there's no where in PR I could do it and I would probably die since I lack survival skills <:pinkwojak:673420781182779442>
Doing something like this would be more of an exercise in building those survival skills
Location scouting can be a bitch though
Totally agree with you
But man, I think I would have to survive off iguanas and lizards
People eat iguanas often right?
I mean it's frowned upon but I know people do it
Some areas of the island yea
You'll only learn through practice, and you can say "hell yeah I'm country I can kill a possum with a slingshot and eat its liver", but until you prove it, you'll never know.
Man wish i had the time off of work to bushcraft for a week
Nah, it became normalized cause there was an iguana pandemic and we had to kill a bunch so parts of the island started eating them
I was thinking about this last night and how I've done myself a disservice by not forcing myself innawoods
Ahh, I had Mexican friends who frowned upon it. So it must be a regional thing
@Mr. Verboten you don't need big game animals. The best meal I ate on that 9 day adventure was fish. We found wild asparagus, wild sage, and wild onion. We used that to make fish soup.
I forgot we also have caimans in the island
from a black crappie.
Well shit man
I'm really going to see if I can find a "camping" area in which I could go and survive for a bit
location scouting is a big part of it
Even if its just two days with one night, DO IT
I say fuck scouting. As long as its legal, just jump in and try it. Its not a challenge if you purposefully plan to be near a freshwater source or a food source
There's a fuck ton of iguana hunting business in Puerto Rico holy shit
That's awesome
I want to try iguana
