2019-01-30 15:31:44 UTC

hmm I kinda want a H2 myself now

2019-01-30 15:31:55 UTC

d u s t

2019-01-30 15:31:58 UTC

this would be ideal to travel with

2019-01-30 15:32:22 UTC

`default OS we preinstall is Cracked Windows 10 English version for free`
god bless china

2019-01-30 15:32:28 UTC
2019-01-30 15:32:44 UTC

holy shit

2019-01-30 15:32:46 UTC

the only thing that bothers me at that one is 300 mbit port

2019-01-30 15:32:55 UTC

if it had a gigabit port, I'd take it for fun

2019-01-30 15:33:05 UTC

` CPU: MTK 7628NN @580MHz `

2019-01-30 15:33:11 UTC

that's actually quite powerful

2019-01-30 15:33:16 UTC

you could run OpenBSD + pf

2019-01-30 15:33:20 UTC

but it runs on openwrt

2019-01-30 15:33:35 UTC

basically I need a simple vpn solution

2019-01-30 15:33:50 UTC

does it have to be simple or costumized?

2019-01-30 15:33:55 UTC

you asked for a NUC

2019-01-30 15:34:09 UTC

simple as fuck. I mean t NUC as in smol pc

2019-01-30 15:34:20 UTC

it's like 2 or 3 users max

2019-01-30 15:34:27 UTC

some cheap ZyWall (maybe second hand on ebay)

2019-01-30 15:34:40 UTC

or a Cisco RV042G

2019-01-30 15:34:47 UTC

like, a prebuilt VPN + Firewall

2019-01-30 15:34:58 UTC

you can get a Cisco RV042G for about 140 $

2019-01-30 15:35:20 UTC

or a Zyxel VPN2S

2019-01-30 15:35:29 UTC

personally I prefer Zyxel because Taiwan numbah one

2019-01-30 15:35:44 UTC

Taiwan is not part of china yet?

2019-01-30 15:35:50 UTC

china has become soft

2019-01-30 15:36:13 UTC

or a Linksys LRT214-EU

2019-01-30 15:36:23 UTC

anyway if you want it to be easy, don't DIY

2019-01-30 15:36:32 UTC

there are tons of VPN in your price range

2019-01-30 15:36:43 UTC

AVM Fritzbox is the current solution and it fucking sucks

2019-01-30 15:36:57 UTC

it's a pain to setup. you can't ssh the box

2019-01-30 15:37:06 UTC

>Fritz Box

2019-01-30 15:37:09 UTC

yikes

2019-01-30 15:37:12 UTC

it regularly bluescreens windows 10

2019-01-30 15:37:36 UTC

my isp only supports this shit

2019-01-30 15:37:59 UTC

most German ISPs do for some reason

2019-01-30 15:38:36 UTC

but these are all fine for VPN? linksys, cisco, zywall?

2019-01-30 15:39:46 UTC

yes I find Zyxel / Zywall easiest to configure

2019-01-30 15:39:56 UTC

how about this one?

2019-01-30 15:40:09 UTC

price is good

2019-01-30 15:40:22 UTC

lmao you can just change ch with de

2019-01-30 15:40:24 UTC

same product ids

2019-01-30 15:40:32 UTC

and in Germany it's more expensive

2019-01-30 15:40:42 UTC

of course it is

2019-01-30 15:40:46 UTC

!answer 122 EUR in CHF

2019-01-30 15:40:56 UTC

almost 10 CHF more expensive

2019-01-30 15:41:04 UTC

but still 122 EUR is in budget right?

2019-01-30 15:41:12 UTC

basic setup would be this
internet -> fritzbox -> zyxel -> muh LAN

2019-01-30 15:41:17 UTC

yes it is

2019-01-30 15:41:33 UTC

you could probably internet -> firewall -> muh lan

2019-01-30 15:41:43 UTC

not sure what you would need the router for in this scenario

2019-01-30 15:41:54 UTC

the Zyxel one has 1 x WAN

2019-01-30 15:41:56 UTC

logging into ISP

2019-01-30 15:41:58 UTC

so it can connect to your ISP

2019-01-30 15:42:00 UTC

ah

2019-01-30 15:42:01 UTC

it should be able to log in

2019-01-30 15:42:15 UTC

unless your ISP has some really weird shit set-up

2019-01-30 15:42:19 UTC

you wouldn't have wifi anymore though

2019-01-30 15:43:10 UTC

brb

2019-01-30 15:43:48 UTC

@futuremoe you can do it like that if you need wifi. On the plus side, your wifi devices will be contained and you don't need to deal with the Fritz Box anymore

2019-01-30 15:46:54 UTC

if you have a higher budget, you can get a vpn/firewall with wifi

2019-01-30 15:46:58 UTC

but that would be 300 +

2019-01-30 16:23:37 UTC

woo my xeon d board is coming tomorrow

2019-02-01 10:00:55 UTC

2019-02-01 10:04:40 UTC

I don't trust the ECU in modern cars either, so I use a carburetor

2019-02-01 10:06:03 UTC

I would be terrified to leave me place with a smart lock on the door

2019-02-01 10:06:36 UTC

it's scary how many people are getting alexa

2019-02-01 10:08:10 UTC

True.

2019-02-01 10:09:02 UTC

Koreans have smart locks

2019-02-01 10:09:09 UTC

Using PINs to unlock their main door

2019-02-01 10:09:59 UTC

Ew gross

2019-02-01 10:10:05 UTC

Just have a key,

2019-02-01 10:10:47 UTC

@spaqin aint those "back lockable" with key

2019-02-01 10:11:05 UTC

so if key is used certain way it disables "the smart" ways

2019-02-01 10:11:07 UTC

I think yeah

2019-02-01 10:11:16 UTC

I like the idea of key + padlock w/key unlocking the pad

2019-02-01 10:11:20 UTC

It's not always available from what I've seen

2019-02-01 10:11:43 UTC

yeah but the newer units have RFID,PIN and key options

2019-02-01 10:11:55 UTC

and back lock what prevents smart functions from working if you use key

2019-02-01 10:11:57 UTC

The truth is, if somebody wants to break in, they're gonna figure it out.

2019-02-01 10:11:57 UTC

@futuremoe Talk about two factor authentencation

2019-02-01 10:12:03 UTC

and the settings menu is only usable with key

2019-02-01 10:12:09 UTC

Better safe than sorry

2019-02-01 10:12:11 UTC

Better safe than sorry

2019-02-01 10:12:18 UTC

iirc the control electronics are in the inside part of the door too

2019-02-01 10:12:31 UTC

smartlock this and that, a stone through your window will take care of business real quick

2019-02-01 10:12:36 UTC

its easier to just wear hi-vis vest and go in with powertools

2019-02-01 10:12:49 UTC

we just lock the door to feel better

2019-02-01 10:13:14 UTC

tbh id love one of those smartlocks

2019-02-01 10:13:17 UTC

just to play around

2019-02-01 13:23:23 UTC

Daily reminder Intel is the best

2019-02-01 14:04:27 UTC

lol

2019-02-02 08:08:22 UTC
