almost 10 CHF more expensive

2019-01-30 15:41:04 UTC

but still 122 EUR is in budget right?

2019-01-30 15:41:12 UTC

basic setup would be this
internet -> fritzbox -> zyxel -> muh LAN

2019-01-30 15:41:17 UTC

yes it is

2019-01-30 15:41:33 UTC

you could probably internet -> firewall -> muh lan

2019-01-30 15:41:43 UTC

not sure what you would need the router for in this scenario

2019-01-30 15:41:54 UTC

the Zyxel one has 1 x WAN

2019-01-30 15:41:56 UTC

logging into ISP

2019-01-30 15:41:58 UTC

so it can connect to your ISP

2019-01-30 15:42:00 UTC

ah

2019-01-30 15:42:01 UTC

it should be able to log in

2019-01-30 15:42:15 UTC

unless your ISP has some really weird shit set-up

2019-01-30 15:42:19 UTC

you wouldn't have wifi anymore though

2019-01-30 15:43:10 UTC

brb

2019-01-30 15:43:48 UTC

@futuremoe you can do it like that if you need wifi. On the plus side, your wifi devices will be contained and you don't need to deal with the Fritz Box anymore

2019-01-30 15:46:54 UTC

if you have a higher budget, you can get a vpn/firewall with wifi

2019-01-30 15:46:58 UTC

but that would be 300 +

2019-01-30 16:23:37 UTC

woo my xeon d board is coming tomorrow

I don't trust the ECU in modern cars either, so I use a carburetor

2019-02-01 10:06:03 UTC

I would be terrified to leave me place with a smart lock on the door

2019-02-01 10:06:36 UTC

it's scary how many people are getting alexa

2019-02-01 10:08:10 UTC

True.

2019-02-01 10:09:02 UTC

Koreans have smart locks

2019-02-01 10:09:09 UTC

Using PINs to unlock their main door

2019-02-01 10:09:59 UTC

Ew gross

2019-02-01 10:10:05 UTC

Just have a key,

2019-02-01 10:10:47 UTC

@spaqin aint those "back lockable" with key

2019-02-01 10:11:05 UTC

so if key is used certain way it disables "the smart" ways

2019-02-01 10:11:07 UTC

I think yeah

2019-02-01 10:11:16 UTC

I like the idea of key + padlock w/key unlocking the pad

2019-02-01 10:11:20 UTC

It's not always available from what I've seen

2019-02-01 10:11:43 UTC

yeah but the newer units have RFID,PIN and key options

2019-02-01 10:11:55 UTC

and back lock what prevents smart functions from working if you use key

2019-02-01 10:11:57 UTC

The truth is, if somebody wants to break in, they're gonna figure it out.

2019-02-01 10:11:57 UTC

@futuremoe Talk about two factor authentencation

2019-02-01 10:12:03 UTC

and the settings menu is only usable with key

2019-02-01 10:12:09 UTC

Better safe than sorry

2019-02-01 10:12:11 UTC

Better safe than sorry

2019-02-01 10:12:18 UTC

iirc the control electronics are in the inside part of the door too

2019-02-01 10:12:31 UTC

smartlock this and that, a stone through your window will take care of business real quick
